Any bowl is good for SMU and I would have liked playing on a team that was in the Hawaii Bowl.
Whether you like this bowl or not its national exposure in a positive light. I'm still perplexed that 6 wins gets teams into bowls. However, its a gift!!! Its a GOOD THING! LOVE IT! (Not everything is about JJ. This is also about the players getting a reward at the end of the season.)

Just a shame that nowadays mediocrity gets rewarded and that the team could possibly come back with a losing record. Tomorrow is certainly a "must win" game.

Because how do you bring people in if they aren't from the outside?

OK children, Santa just marked you down on the "naughty list"!
Promoting a bowl game, respecting his former university and basically wishing them the best success is not blasphemy.
Stallion, are you just trying to get the youngsters riled up? You know full well what he was saying and why he said it. Any attempt to suggest he would underperform so he could play Hawaii sometime, in this bowl, is just plain silly. Children don't listen to the Grinch!
Little girls and boys, Stallion wants to make partner this year, but guess what? Santa is bringing him another load of coal. This is the same Grinch that wanted a high school coach that was hired by NTU, then fired, never even sniffed a bowl, much less a winning season.
Critcize when it is warranted, but don't just make things up.

Amen Bud. Every person I have talked to outside of SMU feels bad that we are stuck with June and that we really need a new coach now. I notice they lowered season ticket prices.
That is BS. Almost no one on the outside looking in thinks June should be fired. All they see is that we are decent now and were the bottom of the barrel.
The only people that want him gone are the people that really follow every step of the program- which ain't that many people.
He needs to go, but don't be ridiculous.

I agree with this, other than the stuff about stallion in the 2nd to last paragraph, which does not seem relevant.
Making up stuff or reaching for things to criticize or even criticizing the right things in a belligerent tone just undermines your overall argument. The same can be said for those on the opposite side of the discussion too. People can disagree without being mean spirited.

I tend to agree with 11. People outside have told me JJ seems to be collecting a paycheck. They see us vs. A&M, Baylor. It's a joke.

I'm not sure how its BS or ridiculous if I'm the one hearing these comments from other people. I neve claimed that I knew the whole world. I just said every person I have talked to. I believe in a later post i said maybe everyone else has experience something different which is fine I'm just saying from my experience. But hey as long as we reach same conclusion "he needs to go" then does it matter lol

My bottom line is one of economics. How much will SMU need to pay out beyond bowl revenues for this bowl appearance? SMU is on the hook to pay for XX number of tickets as part of their bowl participation then cover the costs of the team, band, cheerleaders and various administration officials. When your fans and students cannot travel based on holiday family plans or high costs then what are you really accomplishing?

Team travel expenses are paid by CUSA and all CUSA bowl games are distributed equally so that is not an issue. What seems to be an issue is people forgetting Jones said we should be competing for BCS bowls by year 5. What seems to be forgotten is the goal of CUSA was to get to the Liberty Bowl, not Hawaii.
I am glad that Jones gets to visit his sacred islands, but it would be nice if he would at least every now and then mention he was striving for more than another trip to Hawaii.
That said, I am happy the players are getting a nice trip and hope they come away with a win.

I agree.
