My concern with using GG more as a running threat is the risk of injury.

He needs to develop as a passer for this team to progress.

For this team to progress June has to start playing to the strengths of the offense, Gilbert's running ability is the offense's best weapon. We simply don't have the personnel to be effective as a pass heavy team.

Yes, among other things.

SB- you should know by now that we generally tend to agree on things related to coaching and recruiting. Have a great new year.

Check Kansas State...QB has OK arm...decent talent in receivers...but when he runs? Third place in Heisman and 11-1 record...Bill Snyder shows the way...

Even after the Hawaii Bowl victory, I can still call out JJ.

It is apparent he or someone on his staff can prepare this team. This was apparent in the bowl game. What happened with Rice and Tulane. Team not motivated and not prepared.

Recruiting effort is below average. You would think that a team located in Dallas, going to the Big East and three/four consecutive bowl games would recruit the "best of the rest". Our classes should be full of 3 and 4 stars. Froggies did it!

How can you say that "diamond in the rough" and "under the radar" recruiting isn't working? Four bowls in a row!!'n

Most of those Diamond in the Rough/Under the Radar recruits were Phil Bennet's.

Many of the players in those 4 very insignificant bowl games were players recruited by the prior staff.
When you can say that we are ranked top 25, beat BCS teams the same way we were beaten this year by aTm and BU and also participate in a major (top 5) bowl game then we will believe in the 'diamond in the rough' recruiting method. Hell, we couldn't even win our division this year let alone the CUSA championship (in a year when it was considered to bethe worst conference).

There was sarcasm in my earlier post as the program will not be any better that slightly better than .500 and will continue to be manhandled by true BCS teams.....

Adding a draw option to the game plan seemed to help GG at least keep plays positive. GG and the wideouts need to work hard this spring to get their timing down. Funny thing is that if GG could have hit a few long bombs, the score would have been in 60's.
Though not perfect, I think GG has the passing down but his receivers don't have catching down. I can think of at least three examples of dropped balls yesterday that might have been TDs or big gains. Thompson's drop/misplay was horrible.

GG's running just opens up the offense so much. In 2013, defenses are going to have to contend with that.

True, the WRs need to have a much better season next year.
