Fellas, the SWC is 20 years dead. Let's break the recent habit of cheering on corpses.

Sorry you missed it. It was a great conference. Every conference game within driving distance. Great rivalries and lots of smack talk in the office. Greed killed it, but the memory lives on. Deal with it. 8)

They got a little taste of it if they went to the A&M, Baylor and TCU games. Full stadiums, 2 bands and traveling fan bases, pre-game excitement. What you missed are winning 2-3 of those games. Its called big time college football which SMU fans don't see during the remainder of the season that nobody seems to be too terribly interested in watching

I really miss the SWC days! One of my fondest memories was riding the train to the A&M game in 1955. We loaded at the Highland Park railroad station (around where Knox meets HP) and had a great trip. It was a special SMU train and packed with SMU fans!

I can't even imagine Dallas in 1955 - was SMU on the edge of wilderness?

Nah! We had one expressway...Central Expressway.. And Loop 12. That was it! In 1955 we had just moved into the new Humphrey Lee student union but the old wooden one still stood. Great days!

WOW! NO I-20, I-30, or U.S 287 going to Waxahachie. Although, I am old enough to remember when I-635 wasn't fully complete. It dumped off at U.S. 80 (which was I-20 at the time) in Mesquite.
