For the BBVA? If I recall, we sold the allotment by donating tickets, but then had a lot of other people show up who didn't buy directly from SMU. So we ended up with total SMU attendees that was greater than the allotment, even though we had to donate some of the original allotment away.
Does that sound right to anyone else?
The total number of SMU attendees was somewhere I think around what Stallion said. Those of us who were there could see the alabama fans and others wearing SMU colors but were not actually SMU supporters. Some of the tickets we donated were donated to places who chose to wear SMU colors.
We were double the number of people who showed up for Pitt though.

No we were no where close to selling alottment-you can count number of tickets sold by the number on the receipt from the ticket office. I can't remember amount but I think maybe 3,000 which was why it was somewhat surprising to see more in Birmingham

From an old post-the alottment was 10,000 and neither team came close-this said Pitt sold 2,500 but doesn't say SMU total. "SMU did not provide ticket counts from its allotment of 10,000 and declined to be interviewed for this article."

Let it go. We had plenty of fans there and represented well. Makes absolutely no difference over a year later.

If you buy your tickets from the allotment, it usually means you're just an idiot. 90% of the time you can get them for much cheaper anywhere else. See Virginia Tech at the Russell Athletic Bowl this year. Tickets were less than $3 online. We, to the detriment of our own wallets, bought them through the allotment so they would show up in those numbers.

or it means you are doing your part to support the program you root for; just like the folks who buy season tickets when you can buy enzone seats and sit near midfield on the east side of FordStlhockeyguy02 wrote:If you buy your tickets from the allotment, it usually means you're just an idiot. 90% of the time you can get them for much cheaper anywhere else. Yes, hence the kicker at the end of my statement. % of allotment sold is a poor measure because more often that not people are going to act in their own economic best interest and buy the least expensive ticket. Economics do not apply to our little fansational group as we so often do things like buy season tickets or buy through the allotment to beef up numbers or pay $9.99 for month of some awful directional school's media streaming service so catch one away men's hoops game.
