SDSU has NO money to do anything athletically...the California state university system is reeling.

It is a map that uses a dot for every person in the census. Show population density of the US. Demonstrates the market place.
Of course this means nothing, because once Uconn et.al. are raided the BE becomes CUSA-2 and nobody is watching on either coast.
but we are positioning for the next dominoes to fall; getting East coast exposure much preferable to no exposure on the West coast. That is where the market is Our end goal is not BE or MWC. Or at least shouldn't be.

For the "We Are Back" and mr pony writers on here, where is the logic in joining the Mediocre of the West Conference?? Have any of their teams even been looked at for an upgrade?? Noooo. Has their conference ever had a tv deal above 2 mil? Noooo has their conference ever been mention as a BCS buster conference? No and just having BSU doesn't count. Sure tcu left but for where first? THE BIG EAST. I just don't get it. If you pick MWC then that means you desire us to be in the new FCS division being created where the champ gets a chance to play a game against the big boys (ACC).... Big east is our last hope. It has the potential to be great. We actually get one year where if we are champs we go to a BCS game. What does MWC get? A mediocre PAC team? WOW! Super stoked.

Big East and ACC will both be put down sooner or later. The leftovers will form up into their own conference.

View everything through ESPN's lens. Do you bring viewers? Will the Tech, OU, UT, A&M alums in Dallas tune in to your games? ESPN is using realignment to manipulate scheduling, thereby buying more viewers and cornering the market on high-value inventory.

The MWC will provide reasonably interesting inventory, and being that the Pac-12 seems disinclined to expand into the Boise's, Nevada's, etc of the world, that league is actually likely to remain stable.

If you want to be in a conference for eternity with Boise, Hawaii, Fresno, San Diego, Nevada, UNLV, USU, NM, CSU, Wyoming, SJS, then the MWC is for you. That's what it is. The NBE will probably evolve for a few years. The fact is that there are only a few chess pieces left on the board for now. FSU, Clemson, GT, UNC and perhaps VT are those chess pieces. The rest are just pawns and that includes us. Those are the pieces that will move, sooner or later. Where they move will tell us what the future holds. The next round will be even more cut-throat that will be in about 10 years when UT's Big XII contract ends. That's when the PAC 12 takes a run at UT, OU and perhaps two others. Then, the Big XII has a bunch of others left over and that conference drops down into the NBE, ACC ranks. Either that, or the PAC12 gets eaten by the Big XII making a play for USC, UCLA, CAL and UW. In which case the PAC 12 moves into the second tier. That's the play you'll be looking at.

WE ARE BACK wrote: Crystal Clear:

1) MWC is now the "best of the rest" conference as they are supperior in both Basketball and Football.

2) They are stable now and the Big East is not.

3) Cincy and Uconn will not remain in the conference and when they are gone, we are in Conference USA part 2.
Stability is not a positive if it is only due to lack of interest. Why is there more instability in the ACC/Big East/CUSA? Because those are teams that fans and more importantly media outlets have some interest in. The MAC is also stable because nobody is interested in them. To gauge interest, look at the bowl tie-ins for each conference. The MWC's best bowl slot is in Las Vegas, which is a step down from the Liberty Bowl. CUSA has better deals than the MWC for bowls and TV. Worst case we end up with the same teams and still get slightly better deals than MWC, and no BSU to hog TV money.

That is one of the more fascinating data graphs I've ever seen. How interesting that San Antonio is the furthest west "eastern" settlement.

It is very cool. The guy mapped a dot for every single person in the US census. Interesting what such a simple visual can reveal.

What? like Democratic counties v. Republican counties? That's probably why the visual was made. See the resemblance? Civilization is in blue

Actually, Stallion's comment is quite accurate. Note where cities are located.

Living in a metropolitan area, having an "education" doesn't make you smarter or give you any sense. The wisdom of America has always found its home in the sticks.
