Ask Lamar Hunt's kid- came up with a Trillion Dollar idea with the Super Bowl.

America 12, or A-12, both sound pretty snappy to me.
The number doesn't have to match the actual membership count. It's more of a tradition thing, signifying a collegiate athletic conference. The Big 10 and Big 12 don't have numbers to match their names.
I don't like anything "Metro" - sounds too much like a commuter rail system.
If we want to emphasize having schools in big cities, let's go with the Urban League and begin negotiations with BET on a TV contract.

How about All American Conference? Has a better ring to me.

I personally like Metro Conference better than A-12 Conference. A-12 or America-12 is too close to Atlantic 10 IMO, but you could do some cool stuff with the American flag in the logo.
Metro Conference has history and makes sense though; Dan Wolken suggested it on Twitter the other day and said it got positive feedback.

Duke
Wake
BC
Pitt
Syracuse
Add Louisville to that list. Does that also mean ND goes back to being an independent?

ESPN won't let that conference die, they'll grab 6-8 from the Not Big East and kill that league.

America 12 sounds like we're the twelveth iteration of our republic, way off in the future. How about "American 12" which more accurately describes twelve things that are from America.

The conference would have more All American players than any other. They could not deny us a seat at the big boy table.

no numbers in the name - please!
I liked the idea of resurrecting the Metro, but wondered about ownership rights. I think "The American Metro Conference" fits pretty well, especially with the initial group of schools in Cincy, Tampa, Orlando, Philly, Dallas, Houston, Memphis & New Orleans. Most schools pretty easy to get to travel wise.

It's also pretty short-sighted to have "America" in the name with SMU and Houston in the conference.

American-12 will just be another abbreviation for the conference membership that includes SMU. Of all schools, we should appreciate the marketing value of a good acronym. A-12 is what we will end up with, gents. I like F-16 better, but the USAF has the patent rights to that one already.
