Generally, the UP (and HP) borders are protected by a large wall to keep the riff raff out.
The walls are for traffic noise.

I hope they take down the wall where the IPF is so more people can see it and be reminded of SMU Football as they drive by. I assume we will have a big digital sign on the side facing Central to advertise games, etc.

Yep, and they are not necessarily on the border of the city.

1) Go to maps.google.com
2) make sure you are set to "map view" (not satellite view or hybrid)
3) Type in "University Park, TX"
4) The dotted lines will show the border

Looking at it again - that is no sports field. Look at the linetype. Matches buildings. It is the size of an IPF. doesn't mean it is, doesn't mean they really want to build it there or anywhere else, but it is a good sign.

Well good, maybe we'll see [deleted] Cheney running some reps there, or maybe Condi Rice calling in a few plays from the sidelines in the new IPF... Pony Up !

Surely SMU isn't that smart to put in a IPF..

I truly hope the IPF is on the horizon sooner than later, be it this site or another. That rectangle is the exact area of the current construction parking lot, which is a little discouraging. It also shows no other significant infrastructure I would think an IPF would need (i.e. parking, areas to load equipment, etc.).

That being said, the walking paths on this plan do tie in to its shape, which is interesting.

Either way, I spent a few minutes geeking with overlays... enjoy!

As much as I would love to say that the space above is designated for an IPF, considering all the bellyaching we have done over getting one, wouldn't the university want to issue a press release or some sort of verification that the IPF would be put on this site?

I thought we verified it was decidedly not an IPF.

Bush library wants a view of downtown, I cannot see them allowing a tall building like an IPF there.

Allowing? Don't think they have any particular say in how SMU uses land around the library.
