Also QB Michael Brewer is hurt and has not been practicing. They don't expect him to play against SMU.
I should have included, word from a couple of the Tech alumni friends who are close to the athletic department is he will not play.

That brief period of hope that our coach uses to crush the spirit of the fan base by not taking it seriously. I'm hoping that changes with this season, but I refuse to set myself up for yet another half season of frustration and disappointment

Every time I start to get excited about the opening game, I think about the Baylor game last year and the A & M the year before. I especially have to curb my excited when playing old SWC foes whose [deleted] we used to kick, but refuse to compete with nowadays. I would like to think we could be competitive, but history indicates otherwise, so I will just enjoy hanging out with my buddies and having a couple of drinks.
Now if some one can tell me how to get excited about Montana State and I will be ready for the season.
Rant over.

I actually don't like the dark side stance on all things SMU you've taken here of late, but this is spot on. I am so guarded with OOC expectations that I"ve gotten a jtstang tattoo

Ponyboy, I thought you were saying 100% SMU win?

I believe in guarded optimism but make no mistake about it; our season begins with the first kickoff of the first game.

I don't know what will happen this season, but 6 years into the June Jones regime, there is no reason our fans should have to temper their expectations. We should be able to expect no less than 2-2 with our non-conference schedule as it is and no less than 5-3 in conference play.
