The NCAA has a provision that suspends the statute of limitations in the most serious cases (impermissible benefits, academic fraud, etc.).The PonyGrad wrote:Question is whether these allegations are beyond the statue of limitations for punishment, which is four years. CalallenStang is correct. The provision is called, "Look the other way".CalallenStang wrote:The NCAA has a provision that suspends the statute of limitations in the most serious cases (impermissible benefits, academic fraud, etc.).The PonyGrad wrote:Question is whether these allegations are beyond the statue of limitations for punishment, which is four years. LOL. They can most definitely punish NW Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) for the transgressions of OSU, no matter when they occurredlwjr wrote:CalallenStang is correct. Consider the source of this article.
Gung Ho OU "writer"? hmm. Hack journalism at its finest from what I've read about this guy.
OU rules supreme in Oklahoma. Sad for OSU.

Forgot to add that if history is any indication then probation could have very damaging consequences for Oklahoma State.
Anyone remember what the Hart Lee Dykes scandal did to that program? they were running a J.CO level program for 5 to 7 years after the NCAA handed down its punishment.
The more influential programs in any given conference always recover quicker. Penn State (excuse me; PEDOPHILIA state), OU, Alabama etc. The talent pipeline never evaporates at these places while the lesser schools are left to suffer the consequences.

Re: OSU Football
Please don't compare the absolutely disgusting things that Pedophile State University did with other "recruiting violations". Even if the NCAA wants to compare it to another minor violation, I never will and will forever root against that abhorrent program.

Great tweet by Keith Whitmire - same applies to OU.
@Keith_Whitmire:
UT football goes into slump. Conference foe has unprecedented success, then hit with cheating allegations. Where have I heard this before?

OSU might just be "small" enough to be an example - but I won't hold my breath.

Re: OSU Football
they should kick them out of the conference and add SMU. More eyeballs in a big city, and nobody has to go to Stillwater.

Re: OSU Football
You guys are fooling yourselves if you think anything of consequence is going to happen to a program like Oklahoma State. Not a chance in hell.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Agree. They will get slapped around a little bit because OU wants them to, but they will not get B-slapped.StallionsModelT wrote:You guys are fooling yourselves if you think anything of consequence is going to happen to a program like Oklahoma State. Not a chance in hell.

Most, if not all on this board have no delusions of 'justice' or 'fairness' from the NCAA.smusportspage wrote:Agree. The Northern Oklahoma University of Science and Engineering (NO USE) will not withstand the harsh punishment the NCAA is about to throw down. And Tulsa is sweating about now as well.

Re: OSU Football
I skimmed through the second story published today on academics, and all I can say is "Wow". Some illiterate guys, no homework done. They attended class (as 'students') about as often as I do now (which is zero). To add the payments, the sex (coming out tomorrow), and this, it's amazing how they were allowed to get away with this, and still are, as are many other so-called universities.
