I agree with this. June is about loyalty and his system. Recruiting is not a priority. And this philosophy put SMU on the map again and has given us 5 post season games in five years. There is huge groundswell for aggressive recruiting and there is a choice to me made by the administration.
June is very loyal which is very admirable. He did a wonderful job turning SMU around. He was the right guy at the right time. But now we are here, we desperately need to make that next step.

Um, it's 4 buddy. And the June supporters, such as yourself, only embrace excuses and not solutions.

Technically it is 5 given our appearance in the CUSA championship + 4 bowl games.

It's 5. And my post contained no excuses, just facts. We hired June to bring in a scheme that would translate quickly into wins. I'm not excusing his approach to bringing in players, but simply staying that it is part of his philosophy. People want a coaching staff that will go after better regarded recruits. And people are willing to let go of the system, which has not performed like it did at Hawaii. I quite understand that and I think at the end of this season we will be able to make the right decision.

I don't mean to speak for Abu, but we've been giving you solutions. The solution is to be thankful for what's June has done, realize that, after a precipitious rise that would have made us wet ourselves with excitement back when he was hired, we've plateaued under him, and to:

a) force June to get new assistants who will recruit; or

b) move on with a coach who will.

How is that now offering a solution?

well if you need to force a coach to hire certain assistants it is time to move on, so really your solution is to fire June. So everyone agrees. What are we arguing about?

even throwing out the poor inaugural season in 2008-June Jones is like 3 games over .500 against Division 1A programs playing in CUSA with unprecedented curiculum changes in the Model.

Personally I think keeping June or Hal and having a stud recruiting staff would be the best answer.

June couldn't handle dealing with just one stud recruiter and Mumme isn't exactly big on NCAA compliance.

I was actually talking in general terms about excuses and I'm surprised to see ponyboy saying to potentially move on

Also, I was watching Bar Rescue last night and I love that John Taffer quote so I felt compelled to throw it in. 8)
