I have no idea what other losing ADs across the country said to the media after their losses. I'm in LA, only know about USC and UCLA. USC which is/was in a similar situation as SMU in regards to their HC was the lead sports story in the area and the first question was what the AD was going to do about the HC. As far as I know, Haden never commented to media or held presser before the firing, but the questions were definitely being asked.

Just to add a little perspective, he next coach is gonna cost a Hades of a lot more than 2 mil a year. And we need to add facilities and better assistants. And that all cost money.
So if one really wants to do something about the direction of the program, give a Hades of a lot more than now (if possible).
If 12.6 million dollar s for 6 years didn't buy us where we wanted to be, then it is just gonna take more cash.
So after the catharsis is over, give a lot more to the SMU athletic department. I know I will.

That's frightening (and terribly depressing).

Or maybe a different coach that is more dedicated to SMU and acts like he wants to be here for the same price.

I just hope the new coach, who ever it is, respects the university, embraces SMU's traditions, and at least attempts to builds a relationship with the fans. And, then builds a programs that wins. Is that too much to ask?

If they could not find anyone else I would look at David Bailiff. He does a lot with a little but. I think he has even had a 10 win season at Rice.

He is not a big name coach, but I wouldn't mind if he was on our list, he seems to
get the most out of his guys, and they play hard.

His career record suggests that he does very little with little. Plus he's not a recruiter and the next HC absolutely has to have a sterling recruiting profile.

We've got to be aggressive. Target a bright assistant who recruits their arse off. Go get him now. I'm not sure the rules about contacting potential coaches during he season but we've got to push the issue. The right guy could save, or hopefully improve the 2014 class.

You can contact anyone on back channels as long as you do not have a standing coach. USC will have a coach before season's end imo.
