A good young staff could do wonders here.
JJ has been good to SMU to a point. He raised SMU up to mediocrity.
On the other hand, he has not raised SMU's recruiting profile. His offense is gimmicky. He does not inspire the students or the university and at times seems to disdain SMU. The ASU fiasco was the icing on the cake.
As a TCU fan, I think SMU should keep Jones for a long time.

When the weariness of average overcomes the fear of terrible, we can go ahead and get rid of June and see what someone with energy and smarts could do around here. We had emotion without smarts (Bennett) and smarts without emotion (June - sorta). Not too much to ask for both for 2 million, is it?

Just when Nlemchi is starting to feel it, he's isolated one on one with a defender on a little swing pass and GG throws it behind him...basically blowing up the play. That wasn't the only bad throw he made to an open receiver. This is an offense that is built on hitting guys in stride on those short passes He's been no more accurate than anyone we've had since the death penalty. He's just one more very average player on a very average team...that does not deserve to be playing in a BCS conference.
True, the WRs are bad but Gilbert is too. The kid has not ever had "it" in college.

Don't worry Johnny! Your TCwho team will see an SMU staff (Larry Brown) & team that cares 41 days at the American Airlines Center. . . As bad a whipping the Horny Toads gave SMU on the gridiron, expect SMU to give TCwho just as bad a beat down on the hardwood.
I am sure we can take them in women's soccer or some other equally mediocre sport. Who gives a [deleted] about basketball...we need to be a football score!

I give a [deleted] about basketball. Check season tix sells. I bet you the number of actual people in attendance for the last home football game will be out numbered by the Moody opener. btw, how do you become a football score?

Nothing wrong with having good football and basketball teams. I care about both.

You guys can have basketball in the metroplex. I prefer football. And with us losing 2 big men for the season already, we know its gonna get ugly.

The smarter schools are better in basketball, so that fits us better. We will happily take your pass on basketball on the hopes we can be like Stanford and be good at both.

I know we still have basketball season tickets since the sales guy callede yesterday. I told him I wasn't interested in the sport so hopefully someone who is could pick them up and make Larry feel welcomed. I as always ask the ticket guy with false hope that I'm interested in baseball season tickets... I always hate the answer I always get...

btw, ReedFrawg recommended we sh$t-can JJ after the ASU debacle. He is best non-SMU poster we have. Polite, makes his points, doesn't have too much of an agenda when commenting on Ponies.

Agreed, don't know Mustangsabu personally but as a poster, reedfrawg trumps him and all the sunshiners.

I think he provides a good non-SMU fan perspective.
Sometimes I suspect he is being overly polite as he realizes this is an SMU board.
