Pres. R.G.T. would never hire him anyway.

Kiffin will end up as a coordinator somewhere. That position pays well in BCS conferences. Just not head coach material

Both Turner and Hart know what he pulled in the SEC, not likely.

Kiffin was hired as the head coach for the Vols after long time Coach Fulmer retired. He lasted one year. He did have a winning season and gained a Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl berth. Shortly afterwards at a public luncheon he allegedly made a false statement in a speech about Coach Urban Meyer involving recruiting violations. Later, he was called on the carpet by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive and forced to publicly apologize. Next, he allegedly told a recruit who was interested in going to South Carolina that if he chose that university he would be pumping gas for the rest of his life like the rest of Carolina's former players. He denied making the comment but people over heard him and called him out.

There were other rumors (and just rumors - I can't remember any that turned out to be true) of all types as well. Of note, he had nothing to do with Tennessee's probation.

Finally, in the middle of the night he left UT for USC under a veil of secrecy. He betrayed his players, their fans, the university, and stirred up a lot of trouble in the SEC. In my opinion, he has zero credibility.

Pumping gas for the rest of your life if you have a degree from just about any sec school is fairly accurate. Not sure why somebody would have a problem with lane saying that.

Kiffin was so popular by the time he left Tennessee that they named a sewer treatment facility after him

Winning does cure a lot of ills.

An interesting take on the Lane Kiffin experiment at USC. Bottom line of the article is that Kiffin was starting as their coach under USC's NCAA punishment, with scholarships lost, etc. Just like Saban following Shula at Alabama, the next USC coach can 'restore' them to their glory once the effects of the NCAA infractions are gone. When you think of it that way, it's kind of strange that they fired him when they did.

Oklahoma-Gary Gibbs
Alabama-Shula
USC-Kiffen
Auburn-Bowden
SMU was headed to mediocre teams even if it hadn't gotten the DP

this was a pretty easy prediction. It also shows that when the NCAA lowers the boom with large scholarship reductions they bring down the biggest programs in the country despite the conventional wisdom that everyone gets off easy. You just have to wait 3-4 years until the scholarship limitations work

It's being reported that Kiffin was not allowed on the team bus from LAX. That's cutting ties.

They are reporting that USC is looking to the NFL. Jack Del Rio's name is being mentioned.

Mack Brown is right behind him.

Earl Campbell on Mack Brown: 'I just hope he doesn't stay'

“Nobody likes to get fired or leave a job, but things happen,” Campbell, 58, told KRIV. “I’ll go on the record and say, ‘Yes, I think it’s time.’”
