I think he would have gone to four bowls and maybe had a better record had he been in Conference USA. I'd think the academic standards at Duke would make it harder to bring in quality athletes, but I really haven't researched it much... What's your take?
Duke long ago relaxed admin standards for basketball and in the Cutcliffe era is similarly relaxed for football. It is not an issue.
I have watched a lot of SMU games coached by JJ and Duke games coached by Cut. I've never been embarrassed by a Cut team failing to show up for the opening whistle, and I've lost count the number of times that's happened with JJ teams.
Thanks for your input, haven't had the chance to watch any Duke football but I can't remember any point in my lifetime (25 years) of when they were good or had a winning record until last season and so far this season (not trying to be offensive). Really just trying to illustrate my point on facilities and winning.
No offense taken. I just wish JJ appeared to give a damn.

This is where I strongly but respectfully disagree with you. You see it as him believing in his football ideology where I see it as an inflated/stubborn ego that's unwilling to seek alternative solutions. The fact that it HAS FAILED to work beyond minimal bowl eligibility requirements in year 6 is why I've formed my belief and become frustrated. At some point when your methods aren't working you have to consider some change (not a political reference) and show that you're trying to to improve.

What do any posts on here (anti-June or not) have to do with our athletic department? The views expressed on Ponyfans.com do not reflect the views of SMU athletics.
I would argue that there is as good, of not better, of a chance that JJ will take us to the next level if he ever gets a 4 year QB. Imagine we had GG back next year with a more experienced OLine, and more experienced RBs?
Successful 4 Year QBs are very rare, the way June recruits it's highly unlikely he's ever going to have one of those.

Nah... he's number 1 on the "Irrational PonyFan Poll."

I should have phrased that better, I find some comments on here to be a blight on SMU athletics generally. I believe they show the fans in a very poor light.

Is there a counter-troll ranking? And I'm betting CK will not like being left out, unless this is JJ lover trolling.

How about an IPF? High schools have them but we don't? Yeah, let's build a top ranked football team without the necessary facilities to recruit and compete on a national level. Or we could focus on our great soccer team (I mean used to be great soccer team) that our new coach has run into the ground. I guess we are becoming a basketball school but at least one athletic team seems to be heading in the right direction.

I agree that the 'brand new' or even 'new' tag has gone off the title for Ford Stadium, but based on our attendance and our purposes it doesn't need an overhaul. We moved the lights when JJ asked us to, everyone saw the neon pony in the locker room ; i.e., I'm sure basic improvements and fixes will continue to be a part of Ford's future.

Think we have enough for a Top 25 in that category...

But shouldn't SMU fans expect more? You mentioned that JJ hasn't had a QB for four years. Well, isn't that his fault? He is recruiting these kids. We are in the sixth year of his tenure. Plus, we see our contemporaries (TCU and Baylor) excel and continue to improve. We are not even close to being on their level talent wise. I would argue that this is the least talented team we've fielded under JJ and based on our incoming recruiting class and the fact that we will start a QB with little to no experience, we're not going to be any better next year.
UT is firing their HC who has won a national championship and built them into the most profitable athletic program in the country. They know it's time to move on. It's not that they are disrespecting Mack or they don't appreciate what he has accomplished.

Quite a power move by the Mustang from Hoth.... Let's see if he can reach unanimous status in the coming weeks

Actually, I used to be angry more fans weren't in attendance at this beautiful venue on a fall Saturday. Then I attended some packed stadiums where I was crammed into bleacher seats with drunks and small kids basically arm in arm with me. Ford is so nice because a fan can actually walk around and sit pretty much wherever you want and even can lay down and take a nap on the empty rows during tv timeouts, halftime and official reviews.

I'm gonna hope this is sarcasm (we really need a font for that)....
Otherwise, go die

June Jones is the reason we have not had a 4 year QB! He is the one choosing who plays and he has made the decision to change frequently.
Justin Willis - changed position
Bo Levi - benched
Padron - benched
McDermott - transfer (not 4 years of eligibility)
Gilbert - transfer (not 4 years of eligibility)

I'm somewhat offended. I've spent the better part of the past two years defending JJ on here and I don't even receive a vote? [deleted] all of you.
