By a second year coach? Memphis is not that good no matter how you try to spin it. And we lost the second half by what 26-0?

No, we contained the second half by 6-3. We spotted MSU 20. The D didn't give up all those points. The D did great. The O and special teams gave up those points. MSU went for two and our D got an interception.

We outplayed MSU but did the one thing, the only thing, that could make it close and that was to give up easy turnover points. WE had 3 turnovers that cost us 20 points. MSU had 2 turnovers that cost them nothing to speak of. We outscores MSU and our O outscored MSU's O in points. In the past, 3 turnovers leading to 20 very quick points would have lead to a disastrous blowout. Instead, we were good enough and far enough ahead to survive stupid and correctable mistakes.

As Ponyte and I discussed, this was a great learning experience game. To get a win after doing stupid mistakes gives us the opportunity to learn and move forward. If we had lost the game under those circumstances it would have been devastating.

How many games does it take a JJ run team to finally learn... Most teams only need one or two games at the most of the beginning of the season to get on all cylinders. It's inexcusable to be in conference play and make as many mistakes as we did.
