We're going to really miss him next year. On the TV they said how he went to every single person on the bench and said now we're going to go down and score and turn this thing around right before the drive before the half that, IMHO, is what turned the game back around.

That's REAL leadership. He has my respect. I just wish we had better talent, and coaching (sans Mumme), around him (and he had 2 more years of eligibility!). He will end the year with video game numbers and many broken SMU records. He's having the best year of any SMU QB statistically and, I think, he goes down in my top 5 SMU QBs of all time (would be #2 or #3 if we had a better team around him and were playing higher level of teams every week . . . I don't think anybody will ever top McIlhenny just in shear wins against the best in the business during his time) . . .

Comfortable and confident is what I'd call him. Remember last year how he would consistently overthrow the downfield open receivers. Something happened this year. He has the "touch". I would love to know what he thinks has turned him around. Pony Pride should ask him.
Only one bad game (TCU) really. Comparison to Mac is unfair in that Mac had so much more talent to work with.

This game was the best I have ever personally watched as far as production. Just unbelievable. With the turnover this game would have been a walk cause he was playing well the whole game. Wish every one played as hard and as determined as he does.

Congrats to GG for having a big season. Still a lot of opportunity for him to increase his stock.

After his misuse and abuse in Austin, I'm glad this truly GOOD kid is getting some of the respect he deserves -- we PonyFans weren't too kind to him last year if you recall.

Also remember that last year was Gilbert's first year in this offense AND that it was also his first year back from a serious shoulder injury, so he was as rusty as rusty can be when he got here. So considering all the adversity he's had to overcome, his success here is quite remarkable.

It will be fun to see Gilbert on Sundays in the NFL. Hopefully he goes in the draft and to a team with a good OL and playmakers.

Great game by GG and I love seeing him running the ball, just occasionally, to see how fast he actually is. His wide receivers made some nice catches as well today and the line did better. Outside of the fumbles the whole O was great. Thank you guys for providing us a W and an exciting game to watch.

Yes, we did criticize GG in his early games as a Mustang -- I was among the critics. It's gratifying to see him blossom into a fine quarterback. Without him, we may be sitting on a no-win season right now.

As good a passer as he is, it's his running that really pulls our meat out of the fire. That one long scramble he made yesterday showed ability, guts and resourcefulness. it also showed that Garrett Gilbert isn't going to quit.

That 60+ yard run was not a scramble. It was a set, called play. They spread the defense and put a man in motion to the left which confirmed man coverage. Gilbert took the ball and took off to the vacated right side. Fun to watch the defensive back on the receiver on the right, running down the field in front of Gilbert, not realizing he was running.

Bump. Good job GG!

G2 has put this team on his shoulders and carried them. Hate to think where this team would be without him.
