I assumed the only people who made this game were those who could walk; kudos to those who actually got out and drove in those conditions, but I hope you all got home safely with no new dings in your vehicles

What of the article?
SMU football home attendance is an embarrassment. No excuses. Nuff said.

Many of the media outlets that criticize us are located in Los Angeles. What would they know about extremely cold weather?

If I lived in Dallas, I'd have been there. But I wasn't about to drive the 40 miles in from North Fort Worth. My neighborhood alone had 2-3 inches of ice on the roads. I can see 170 from my house, and there were about 25 semis parked there for 2 days because they couldn't make it up a relatively low grade hill. They had to tow them all out.
I love me some SMU football regardless of our record or our coach, but there is no way I was driving 2-3 hours one way in the worst ice storm I've seen in the 25 years I've lived here just to prove that I'm a hard nosed fan. That would be just plain idiotic. I like my life too much to be that hard headed.

students not attending was upsetting to me, what better way to procrastinate studying than attending a college football game? I was really upset when a bunch of buddies wouldn't leave their houses bc it was too "cold". I've never attended a game that cold and won't forget it, it was a memorable experience and I got to see a bcs team, the people/students that lived close enough to walk (ie: rosedale) and preferred watching it on tv missed out.

I will say I was pretty upset they didn't scan tickets so the people who went could get their Mustang Club points.
They actually should have given those in attendance double points.

In reality our attendance is on a par with our coaching performance. Stadium a little more than half full
to watch a team coached by a half-assed coach who would rather be somewhere else, who does less than a half-assed job at recruiting, and who hires incompetent half-assed assistants (special teams coach). Such is life at SMU.

Hey, ice is nothing to mess with. However, students could have and should have shown up. The school could have just put the cafeteria in the stadium if need be just to get them there. That is a shame. There are what about 4,000 students resident at SMU? That sure would have looked a whole lot better on TV.

I can forgive the students. Their #1 priority was studying for finals, and besides it's dangerous
just walking on the stuff.
Actually attendance has increased by 20 to 25 percent since the Bennett era.
Sorry, I ran out of my allotment of emoticons again. : o )

Attendance has increased but SMU hasn't done a good job in marketing the program as a big time program to both recruits and students/faculty/alumns/DFW.
First step is we step it up in the field, coupled with a solid marketing effort to get butts in seats. Doesn't care who we play, people like seeing teams that go 12-0.

I checked and all season ticket holders are getting their points for all of their tickets for that game.
