Mack did mention his attorney had been contacted by three schools this week about being their HC. Two of the offers were firm

I agree. Unfortunately, never happen. These guys have monster egos. Fun to fantasize though. Mack would fix recruiting. He would also be a good fit for the SMU culture. I always liked the way he represented UT. Mack is a classy individual.
It was the Ok State beat down in Austin that lost him his job. If he had won that game or at the very least kept it close he may have overcome the early season BYU fiasco.

Hard to imagine Mack would ever be interested in SMU. I assume he's got a sweetheart deal from UT and can go into a comfortable semi-retirement with the whorns. The only question is how bitter he might be...he did start his head coaching career at Tulane and if he just really wants to be a HC...who knows? I expect that if he has a burning desire to coach, he would very quickly go find a job because he will be 63 when the 2014 season kicks off. Then again, if he wants to be another Larry Brown and just can't get enough???
