Do we keep a "short list" of head coaches we'd target if June left? I can't help but think that since we've committed to June, if he left we would be caught with our pants down, scrambling at the last minute for a new coach. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I'd like to go after Louisville's short list:
Chad Morris,
Bobby Petrino,
Rich Rod,
Pat Narduzzi (MSU),
Derek Mason (Stanford)

all the names I ahve seen thrown around on SEC forums by Vandy fans and media reports have them going after somebody much bigger than Jones.
Cutcliffe is the only older coach I recall being mentioned.

Every AD has a short list - that's part of the job. That being said, it does the AD no good reason to release those names as it only makes the price for them go up. Shoot, that was whole point of making LB name his replacement coach in case he decided to leave.

Vandy has supposedly matched PSU for Franklin
http://www.chatsports.com/penn-state-nittany-lions/a/Vanderbilt-Matches-Penn-States-Offer-for-James-Franklin-Move-Now-Uncertain-10-137-194I'm honestly a little surprised that Penn State would even consider a HC who is dealing with gang rape allegation issues with some of his players considering recent history.

JJ would split back to the West Coast in a heartbeat, and we'd be happy to send him off. Also, his style of offense wouldn't get exposed in the MWC like it would in a P5 conference
If June goes to Fresno my head will explode. But I don't think that'll happen, he hates Fresno. June claims a Fresno fan threw a screw driver at him one year when we beat Hawaii. He isn't well received in the Central Valley. Plus were two hours from a beach, not close enough for him!

Franklin - Yes he is leaving
Jones - No he is not
The Vandy fans that think they are going to get a top tier coach are in for a real surprise. Even if Franklin stayed, they were looking at a 3-8 season next year with total turnover on both sides of ball. Whoever is next will be compared to Franklin and it will be a career ending move.
Other teams should be all over any of Vandy's good recruits right about now, because many committed to Franklin and not Vandy.

Do they have any DITRs?

Vandy says they have matched the salary offer - not quite sure how much it is - and have countered by committing to the single largest weight room in the SEC and shown him the plans for their stadium renovation. They say they have committed an additional $80M in facilities to give him what he needs to compete.
Get him or not, Vandy has come to play.

The whole Paterno scandal exposed the fact that PSU (fans, administration, coaches) value football success over ethics and morals, so are you really surprised.

Now ESPN is reporting Franklin has never been formally offered. Yet the story goes that after the interview the school president flew to FL to speak with him.
If any of this is true, my guess is that Franklin is staying.

ESPN now reporting that Franklin is expected to accept Penn State offer. I believe Franklin is from that area.
