Whatever the total number our HOF coach and top-notch assistants are making, they are underpaid. These guys live and breath SMu basketball 24-7, 365 and 366 on leap year!

I'm not going to engage this remark further than this post. Nice try.

Orsini is happily collecting an SMU paycheck still, for those who asked.

Call me naive, but I think we're in very capable hands once Jones can be pushed out. I'm blown away at not only the quality of play on the court but the top-notch marketing and game presentation.
Those in charge now "get it"....I'm more and more convinced Orsini was just a bull in a china shop with no real plan. The fact that he hasn't caught on anywhere else is a good clue about how ineffective he really was.
You may be right, but I think that was exactly what SMU needed when he arrived. Someone to come in and tear down the walls and give everyone a swift kick to the [deleted]. Orsini MUST be credited for all of the rewards we are reaping. He laid the foundation and believed in the potential.
Hart doing a great job with Basketball thus far though, game presentation and atmosphere is fantastic, he must also be applauded for this. Let's see what he can do with football, but if he can preserve big time basketball on campus at least, I will die a happy man haha.

Question: Ironic that Larry Brown credits June Jones for helping him get the job at SMU, and LB's success points out that the football team has plateaued. How much longer before June's seat starts getting hot?
Cowlishaw: I've felt (and I'm hardly alone on this) that rebuilding SMU's basketball team would be much easier than getting football back to where it once was. I think June needs to do better, no doubt about that, but I don't think there's a real dissatisfaction. Yet.
I guess Larry Brown needs to learn the truth from CalallenStang

Larry brown credits everyone else and accepts all blame for anything. Do you also believe Kaiser is an NFL QB?

LB sought after the job but was not hired immediately. LB and Kris Lowe encouraged LB to hang in there while the search continued (which has been stated in other articles). JJ did not initiate the talks with LB as some would like to imply.

Orsini's best contribution was probably to establish and implement long overdue expected levels of revenue contributions from various gameday sources. SMU as a small, private school will have to tap strong alumni financial support to have any hope to establish a competitive program. SMU was really behind in this area before he got here

What does the phrase "some would like to imply" mean? Are they implying it or would they just like to imply it? If they would only like to imply it then how do you know they would like to imply it?

Did you ask that question in the Cowlishaw chat? Anyone could have asked, whether they were informed of not.
The only thing Larry credited June with is calling him to tell him to hang in there.

I agree, but the bigger point to me is that this is not just coach-speak but the truth.
Don't know if there are 30 schools in America that have the cache that SMU does. In Texas, only UT matches us in terms of campus, reputation, connected alumni and location. Rice would be smart to follow our lead in BB, they have the ingredients as well.
Baylor is on a nice run, but at the end of the day, it's Waco. Same can be said of other schools here in Texas.
I'm hoping, our Coach Brown has alluded to, that this is the start of something big here at SMU.

When I say 30 schools in America, I'm talking about BB.
