Pocono- I think you mean the 2015 class. I'm not too concerned about the experience gap you mentioned- Markus and Nic will be seniors that year and Sterling will likely have two years of starting experience under his belt. Keith and Ben will be juniors with lots of experience as well.

Re: Jordan Tolbert (Texas Tech transfer) visits SMU
Saw him standing next to Ben Moore after Sunday's practice. If Moore's listed height of 6'8" is accurate (and if it's not, it's awfully close), then I would say this guy is bigger than 6'7". I was sitting up in the loge seats during practice, so my angle wasn't at eye level (of course, it wouldn't be if I stood on the ground, either), but from where I sat, Tolbert looked taller than Moore. Maybe my perspective was skewed somehow, but he looked taller. Looked strong, too.

Since he has had some family issues I am sure he could get a hardship waiver to play immediately next year.

So if he were to transfer to Smu and have to sit out, would he have full two years paid scholarship? He will need two years minimum to graduate from SMU.

Not to take anything away from Nick and Shawn, but if we replace them with Mudiay and Tolbert in the starting rotation, that would be a major upgrade IMO

He is a junior with 1 year of eligibility left but I do not think he has redshirted. If he gets a waver he can play immediately. Due to his family situation he should get the waver imo.

Agreed and with B. Moore, Yanick, and Cannen a bit beefier and Markus taking his fitness to an even higher level, it's downright scary how good this team could be (and don't forget about Manuel either . . . very athletic kid).

yep, I was just wondering, when guys transfer and sit out, are they on SMU dime for two years? so at least if he has to sit for a year, at least he can knock out a year of education on SMU's dime. Like I said, if he would like a degree from SMU, he will need two years here. I am guessing he would get a free ride while he sits.

Yes, if the team has offered him a scholarship just like they did for MK, Nic. rtc.

Hard to imagine he wouldn't get the hardship waiver, but who knows with the NCAA

They granted a waiver to Kerwin Okoro who was in the exact same situation.

Then it actually might be to his benefit to sit for a year, get acclimated, get classes knocked out, learn LB system, and be on track for an SMU degree coinciding with finishing his eligibility, and all fully paid for.
Either way, how would he turn SMU down, and how does SMU not offer? I'm liking this a lot!

We just need him for next year and then we will have several players coming in after that. I am pretty sure we would be more concerned with him being eligible next year than whether he gets his degree. He would help us win next year. Besides in the future we are dealing with one and dones, two and dones, and three and d ones. No need to be concerned about someone getting a degree. Now the concern is keeping them eligible.

Well, did you ever think that maybe he might want to get his degree? Finishing a degree at SMU can be pretty damn expensive if he is already finished with his eligibility. I know what we want, but you have to have two sides benefit to make a deal.

Not if his major goal to get major playing time and get a shot at pro ball as soon as possible. Besides I think colleges have financial aide programs for athletes that want to come back and get their degree after their eligibility is over.
