Everyone relax please. Yes it would have been nice to win but it's a consolation tournament, get over it. Someone compared it to the Rangers blowing the World Series...that's insane. Losing in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 would have felt 10000x worse than last night's game.

This was a good experience for our young team. It will help prepare us for next year when we are actually in the real tourney.

Cheers to a great and exciting season! Hope we make it far in the the real tourney next year!
I miss Troy Matthews.

The first goal should be making it to the Big Dance. The second goal would be a deep run in the Big Dance. I would say goals are better than expectations. In fact maybe our first goal should be win conference and let everything else take care of itself.

i'm over it. we made a great run. and we have next year to look forward to. this is like the year that we made it to the hawaii bowl. the difference being that this bball team crashes the dance next year. like i've said elsewhere, this team greatly exceeded my expectations.

Had a friend say, the announcers even made comments that he was out of bounds.[/quote]

Yes he did, I was sitting top section 105 full view of his foot clearly out of bounds and was waiting for the whistle. Ref missed it. so sad.

Poor toads. Me thinks they are going to have that look for the near term in both football and basketball.

I totally understand how the younger posters on this board would feel devastated by what happened Thursday.

But for me personally, it hurt more when that 1987-88 team lost to the Duke in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament because it was the NCAA tournament. We played that team nose to nose until the final 6 minutes when they pulled away and hit some free throws at the end to win seal it.

I will still believe that the 87-88 team is the best that's come through SMU in my time with the school. 28-7. Won the regular season and conference tournament championship. Was a really deep and offensive team. Could score on the block with Glen Puddy and Vernon Perdue and occasionally Reginald Muhammed. Carlton McKinney could go either shoot it or slash. Terry "Snake" Thomas was an x-factor. Kato Armstrong spoke for himself. Todd Alexander came off the bench and was a 3-point specialist. That team was crazy good. And if we had Larry Johnson....geez.

Thursday night vs. Minnesota was disappointing. But believe me when I tell you that when you have Duke on the run and come up short, it hurt more. A lot more.

Just my opinion.

Read this morning that Nolan Richardson is the only coach with both an NCAA and NIT. Yes I realize Brown needs nothing more on his résumé or trophy shelf, but it would have been nice to get that for him. I do not plan on us revisiting the NIT while Brown is here.

This can't be true as Jim Calhoun and Bobby Knight immediately come to mind as coaches who have won both.

Sorry, my reading comprehension failed me. He is the only one to have won the NIT, NCAA, and JC National Championship. So I guess, never mind.

Honestly, it saves us the trouble of figuring out whether to put up a banner or not. I thoroughly enjoyed the NIT run and have more respect for that tournament as a whole, but it still not a "championship".
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
