I think 0-4 is more likely - but I would put my bet on 1-3, with lots of grumbling and some hurt players going into conference play. 2 games into conference play I see our AD dusting off the personnel files.

I am always impressed with the unbridled optimism on this board.

If SMU can get out of the OOC portion of the schedule at 2-2 then I would be over the moon happy and optimistic about the remainder of the schedule. If we're 2-2 that means we have beaten at least one pretty damn good team out of Baylor, A&M, and TCU. The team should feel confident going into every AAC game if they come out of OOC at 2-2. That said, I just don't see it. 1-3 is a very real possibility and 0-4 is certainly not out of the question.

The lack of optimism is well grounded in fact. In which season under JJ do you think we exceeded expectations in our out of conference play?

being picked 5th in the AAC is not that bad with an unknown at QB. If Burcham and Davis step it up, we could be better than people think. Lots of returning players on the front 7 defensively is very positive. I think JJ will find a way to move the ball, we know he can do that. Depth chart actually doesn't look bad to me especially with Nwosu adn the juco at LB.

he wants to throw down field, which isn't a bad idea, if burcham syncs with the offense, and trusts his rbs to block lbs, they will score.
Davis can run the offense in short yardage situations, perhaps.

I'll take 2-2 all day long, heck I'll be happy with 1-3, just don't show up with 0-4.

Do we know if he can find a way to score because scoring has been a problem for us against legit opponents.

The one season most of us finally have realistic expectations he tries to build it up so that he can rip out our hearts and crush our souls again.

Can we just get him a one way ticket to Honolulu and have him put on the no-fly list already?

He (and we) REALLY need a win against a SWC foe, but unless the plane crashes or someone poisons the salsa in Waco our only real hope is against an average TCU team.

God I hope he's got a trick up his sleeve.
