I'm going to go out on a very short limb and assume his dream job is Texas A&M since he graduated from there.

What does that even mean? Answer the question. Why would he chose SMU over an assortment of P5 options?
I just mean June was all about the "can't". Chad Morris may happen, but I'm more in favor of someone who will be here more than 2-3 years. Getting his feet back in Texas to start building his A&M HC resume would be the big appeal. I realize some are just fine with the risk. My vote -- as just one fan -- would be to get someone with a slightly longer runway at SMU. I just want the next coach to keep raising SMU and make it an even better job for the next guy. Just not sure Chad Morris can make that happen if he's here short term.
I don't see why some of you believe Chad Morris to SMU is a long shot. I feel he is the obvious choice and will most likely take the job if we offer it.
I hear you but for once I would like us to try a coach that someone would actually like to come and hire away. Arkansas State has had 5 coaches in as many years and gave Tennessee a run for their money last Saturday with another 1st year coach

You aren't going to find a young coach that wants to make SMU their longterm spot unless SMU can give an insane amount of cash to him and somehow sneaks into a P5 conference.

Don't disagree one bit. It's just a matter of duration on this next hire.

I feel exactly as you do but I do not know where that midpoint is between someone staying because they are not good enough to go and someone leaving because they are too good.
