FWIW - Texas' APR under Brown was good enough.
When Chad Morris rides into town

When Mack Brown gets introduced at his new school and not a second before.

who cares? these articles and speculations just help keep us on the 'front page' and let other coaches know that we are actively looking.

Yea I agree. I don't see the downside to rumors of us being linked to Mack and a huge salary?

I will be both pleased and surprised if Morris is our next coach.

Not until most of the current team have been "recruited over".

This was the best part:
"Question: Since June Jones quit after leaving behind a mess at SMU, should anyone care about his excuses?"

Two different columnists can have two different opinions. These are their individual opinions, not some corporate-endorsed opinion that represents the mindset of the entire paper.

Please take a look at Rivals recruiting rankings under Bennett versus Jones. Even with the slip, the last few recruiting classes are better than what they were under Bennett. The team is young, and the cupboard is not as bare as what it was when Jones came in.
Jones was able to take that group, two recruiting classes and turn it into a winner. If June was that poor of a coach, just think of what the next guy could do with a better foundation to start from, and more effort in recruiting.

"@SmuFootballBlog: .@TimCowlishaw this isn't a criticism but could u provide a specific example of an "academic restriction" @ #SMU ?"
I am not sure what Cowlishaw is talking about, and I'm not defending JJ, but we simply don't offer the types of no brainer degree plans that can be found at UT for instance. Those kids never have to leave Bellmont Hall and can choose academic degree plans designed around some very easy majors. Take a look at their degree catalog and course requirements sometime. This is the only way they keep their graduation rates at an acceptable level. I know of nothing even remotely approaching this level of academic cynicism at SMU.

Yet we don't have any more academic casualties than they do. Our latest bball problem was a guy who tried (commendably) a real major instead of the majors created for athletes in the school of education

I pay attention to offers, not Stars. To many of our players don't have any offers from any schools above the Sunbelt/CUSA level. For example, our 4 Star QB recruit's only other offer was UC - Irvine.
Furthermore, our roster has too many WR/Slot guys, too many people under 200lbs, and not enough DL.
