I think we need DB and kickers too.

The incredible lack of speed, athleticism, and playmaking ability is beyond staggering. This is the least athletic and least talented SMU team that I can remember since following the program in 2001 and its not even close.
Everyone should be worried about keeping their scholarship b/c the majority of these kids simply do not belong at this level.

whate ever happend with Zelt Minor this year? Why didn't he get more time? I have a hard time believing that Gentry passed him on the depth chart. Maybe he was in the doghouse. Does he get a shot in the new regime?

I think part of this year's team disappointment goes back to the lack of experience. I was impressed with Gaines and Sanders Jr. I though Matt Davis, with lots of work, could be a good quarterback for an offense that gives more weight to the run. The offensive line (although improved) needs to be stronger and quicker. However they are young and should be considered a strength next year. The defensive line needs to be stronger and quicker also. However, like the offensive line, I think they should be better next year. The running backs? They need better blocking, thus line improvement. The defensive backs and linebackers need work but most will be back next year. So, perhaps they will naturally improve. If I was in charge of recruiting next year (besides taking any players better than what we have now) I would be especially interested in tall and fast defensive backs, a quarterback, off and def line and big and fast receivers.

Since OL take time to develop, I don't think we give up on them yet, but recruit as many big uglies as we can on both lines. Never can have enough of those guys. Davis if in the right scheme might be a keeper, but he is not a drop back passer. Sanders, Jr. has some talent and some drive. Defense actually looked like it has been coming along all season. We need a strength and conditioning coach or a softer field. We've lost what 15 starters over the year to injuries. Even a deep team would have problems with that. Probably need some tight ends if we run an pro set or option offense, since we don't have any.

Yeah the defense looked great on that 99 yard drive yesterday.
We just don't have the talent. Period. Bring in JUCO, D1A transfers, whoever.....we need help.

OL will be interesting to see with a year of additional experience and operating out of a 3-pt stance. Really no telling what they'll look like. Don't know if we'll be able to hang onto the OL recruits June had commits from, but supposedly they're a step up in quality.

You realize don't you that SMU is ranked dead last among 124 schools in rushing yards per game.
Oh, and it's not because of our awesome passing attack
Blow up as much as possible.

We'll let Coach Morris decide whether they are a step up in quality or if he even wants to hang on to them. Since JJ and his coaches say they are a step up in quality it means nothing just like saying Kaiser was a first round draft pick.

June can take them with him to his next job.

I've said it since the second half of the UNT game. We have some kids who just didn't have the stomach for the fight and a whole bunch of kids who simply do not belong on a D1A roster. I love the Chad Morris hire and think he will do great things at SMU, but he is facing an incredibly daunting task here. I like the fact that he's willing to accept the challenge and can see the potential here at SMU.
That said, this is going to be tough. Next year will be tough, 2016 is probably going to be pretty tough....2017 should be enough time to root out the lack of talent and residual June loyalists to see real progress. I just hope we are all prepared to fight through a couple more seasons that'll be pretty rough. Nothing will be as bad as this season, but I think the bar next year should be 3 wins. If we can win 4 or 5 games next year then Morris is truly a miracle worker and we'll be an AAC contender by 2017.

Luckily, we play plenty of bad programs.
2015: 3-4 wins
2016: 6-7 wins
2018: AAC Champion and competitive with OOC teams
2019: new coach takes over after Morris leaves for TAMU.
The key will be finding an adequate QB ASAP.
- Burcham is fragile and slow footed, Davis needs to convert to WR/RB/DB because his accuracy is horrific, Cassell couldn't beat out either of them (or Stich)
- Our best options will probably be Severt and Kearns until Morris gets a full year to recruit.
