We need guys to come in NOW and compete yesterday with Davis (as stated before, I think Davis will do fine, but we need competition). Virgil is coming off of injury and I don't think he plays next year. He was going to be in a situation where we would bring in 1 - 2 OTHER quarterbacks in this class (the second a JUCO) while he redshirted. And he would potentially be recruited over in the next class on top of it. That is why I never saw him coming here.
Virgil was not injured this season...you're thinking of someone else (Skyline's QB?, perhaps)

I understand that Chason is not injured. That was a false rumor. He graduates early and will enroll for the second semester at Fresno. Probably the reason we have offered Ben Hicks out of Waco, a Houston QB commitment. He is also an early HS graduate and could participate in Spring practice.
Very surprising from the proximity to home and academic standpoint. But from a football standpoint it isn't that random; that offense slings it with the best of them, they have good fan support, and Deruyter was the former aggie DC. I've talked with Deruyter and members of that staff out and about before and they all drool over the idea of creating a recruiting pipeline to Texas. They did sign a UA All American qb from the valley that was a frosh (Rs) this year so I guess vigil isn't afraid to compete. Good get for the dogs but sucks for us. Morris won't lose battles like this for very long
Obviously he had no interest in an education in case he didn't make it to the bigs. Enjoy pushing the broom-dunce. BTW- where is that high draft choice of the Texans- David Carr today?

I'm guessing he's living very comfortably off the $35 million he made off the Texans.

He's also still being chased by the defensive linemen the o-line let through

Agreed, remember playing in Fresno and thinking it was the biggest dump ever, going back there over the years reincorced that. Have fun Chason...let's get Stidham!
It happens. Would have loved to get Virgil, but that's just the way it goes sometimes. I wish him the best, and I think we're going to win some of these battles (particularly in the 2016 class and forward). And who knows. . .maybe Virgil ends up on the Hilltop after all. Stranger things have happened.
