Duke > SMU in just about every single way possible, including athletics and academics.
Except that it's Duke. In Durham. I've been there. And every person I've ever met who went there was a [deleted]. They are better in bball. Oh and our girls are hotter.
I know probably 8 or 9 people who went to Duke and not a bad egg among them. I've also been to Durham and wouldn't mind living there myself. Lately they have been better than us in football too. SMU girls are hotter though.

More than "I'd take him", I'd be THRILLED to have him.
Precisely.

Everybody hates Duke - as they should. Submitted respectfully.

Really? You are the first person I have ever seen who has been there who wouldn't mind living there.
I've been to Durham several times. There are actually a few parts that aren't bad...but they are few and far between. Give me pretty much any of the surrounding cities in the Triangle over Durham.

Been there many times with church stuff. Not a bad place to me. I could live happily there.

Ah yes, duke. Aka the university of new jersey, durham campus. A good school, but its real merits are truly due to grad schools. Oh, and if you think they have genius student /athletes, I met a former administrative specialist from duke. They protect their bball players as much as unc has.
Go Ponies!

To answer the query above about the Cosby reference, it appears to be a shot at the Duke lacrosse scandal. Which of course proved to be based on a bunch of lies, and resulted in the disbarment and jailing (1 day) of the prosecutor.

I was wondering if that is what that post meant. Ridiculous comparison.

Thanks to the fantastic reporting of the great american media, the general public doesn't remember they were falsely accused (Just a view from the outside looking in). Just as I am sure everyone still thinks we pay players and are cheaters.

Wait, it was your post that referenced Cosby. Are you blaming the media for the ridiculous comparison in your post?

To get us back on topic a bit...how does SMU (or any other school) 'recruit' someone who has declared that they are transferring? Obviously it is different from a high school kid. Just wondering. Can we bring a kid to the school on an official visit? Is everything up to the transferee? How much contact can come from the coaches?

Is he still at Duke? I'm guessing since the semester is over he's no longer registered there. I would assume (most likely wrong I'm sure) that anyone can contact him as long as he is not on the restricted transfer list (ACC schools, in state schools, etc.).

Duke = Nerdy student body (cameron crazies) with a run down basketball gym in the middle of nowhere coached by a world class coach. Oh and apparently a bunch of very desperate guys that are avid fans of Bill Cosby.
Cameron is not run-down, Durham isn't the middle of nowhere, and accusations of nerdiness are a bit silly when SMU's academic prowess vs traditional rivals is a regular talking point around here (and should be).
WTH about Cosby now? His only tie to Duke was betting his top-seeded Temple Owls would beat Duke in the 1988 East Region finals, and then having to wear a Duke shirt on his show when they lost.
Ummh, Cameron is kinda run down and Durham is kinda out in the middle of nowhere. Having said that, it is a great university in a nice area of the country. Could live there very easily amongst the foothills and the pines............

Look, if anyone wants to argue that Duke's football stadium is run-down, none of us on here with Duke ties will argue with you. (At least until its renovation is finished next year.) But you cannot plausibly say that Cameron is run-down. It's been through millions of renovations and the addition of an adjacent Duke Basketball museum, just in the last decade:
http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=218099Anyway, I mainly posted because of the Cosby reference. Ridiculous to see that here, especially given that a recent Duke lacrosse player suited up for SMU football this past season.
