I saw a team that both benefits from a great coach but also sometimes worries too much about what the coach will think. I think Markus Does NOT worry much about what LB thinks. Keith and Yanick won't scratch their nuts without permission.

I think these two points are spot on.

Right, exactly. As I posted the teams that have 3 pt shooters and CAN compete with us inside are the only ones that have killed us (there are very few of those in college BB . . . Arky and Gonzaga are the only ones we've played that could IMHO). No one else on our schedule can from what I can tell.

Mustangsabu wrote:From everything I have heard from LB his focus is to shut down the inside. Make teams shoot the ball well to beat you. I am totally with him on that. There is not a team we have played this year (that I can remember) that would have beaten us if we had not turned the ball over a gazillion times. If we fix the turn-overs (and EM not coming through for us has set us back in this regard, Nic not being a true point), we can absorb a hot team from the 3 point line. We must NOT get away from our interior defense which is studly in the extreme just because a few posters start dribbling in their shorts when a team hits a few threes. Trust Larry. We will go as far as our turnovers let us. Fix that, we could go deep.

Keep the faith.

Bingo.

Get ready for threes next Wednesday because that's all Tulane's guards shoot. Last night their two starters shot 25 threes, making 13 of them.

Where did the thought start that Nic is not a true PG?? I think Nic would be the first tell you he's had too many TOs this season and he can score like a 2 guard but he's absolutely a true PG.

Guys a scorer man. There's no shame in saying it. Just because he dribbles really fast up the court doesn't make him a true PG. He can't even throw an entry pass to save his life. Too many TO's isn't like a slump he'll just snap out of, he's a bit out of position.

That in no way is a fault. He's an elite shooter, he's clutch as f*, and he single handedly won us multiple games last year. He's a stud.

again a little bit overboard on your gross exaggeration. He's 50th in the Country in assists out of all players on about 370 teams -about top 15% of all teams and SMU gets the ball inside more than the vast number of teams-No. 40 in assists as a team. Moore is 2nd in the AAC in Assists per game and SMU is 1st in Assists in the AAC. Can he be more careful with the ball-Yes

You're simply wrong. He's played PG his whole career - he played point in HS, he played point at Illinois St, and LB brought him to SMU to play point, which he has done. I'm not sure if this is the first year you've watched him play but last season he had a 2.1/1 assist to turnover ratio. 2/1 is consider good.

The significance of the Cummings injury can't be ignored. I compared it to us losing Nic: there is no real solution…an Achilles heel.

The Temple fans sitting around me last night were quick to point out that significance as well.

Temple is a good team. Their defense last night was VERY GOOD. They threw some amazing passes and moved the ball pretty well for a team without their point guard. They shoot hot and cold (sound familiar?)

I am thrilled with the road win, don't get me wrong. But we did not get them at their best. They will be very tough in Hartford.

If you have both an inside game and solid three point shooters your team is stocked with 5-stars….and you are….ummm…Gonzaga? Kentucky? Arizona?

We can get there….

Damn.

Yeah that's what their strategy will be - that's really their only chance. Start Sterling.

Well he played quite a bit. Maybe not 100% is what you're saying. But he played quality minutes.

Yep they're not many. We need MK to come back next year and we will be deadly.

It was a triple OT game but one of the guys was 7 of 10 in regulation.

And to continue….

I really think LB does want two guys who can handle on the floor. That guy who shall remain nameless who was supposed to be our point guard was the perfect partner for short, fast, great shooting Nic. He is long and can get inside to either dish or shoot. That's what I think LB covets.

No knock on Nic….but I await the arrival of the freshman duo!
