It looked like it was going to be horrible at the start, but honestly, this may have been the best beginning-to-end atmosphere of the season. It never got crazy loud, so the peak wasn't the highest, but overall the crowd was more engaged.
The points system has messed up the student section. That's a real bummer.

Colorado, we pointed to your section and said finally, some students are being like last season. Loved it. Please do the same for our last five games. Big thumbs up.

I would hope that we would have a rowdy crowd whenever we play Houston; after all, they are our only conference mate from back in the old SWC days....not that it means anything to today's students. For them, let's go with "they are our only conference mate in Texas"

Has anyone addressed this with Hart or whoever is in charge of Mob tickets?

They need to make one section a rotating Greek section. Each game different house or houses. If they don't show up, they lose future rotation

Students were fine last night. Too many girls watching their phones. Bigger problems is how late EVERYONE shows up!
We also played much bigger names and ranked opponents last year. Lets see what happens with Cincy and Uconn.

But how many excuses can there be?
I'm not comparing SMU 2015 to SMU 2007. I'm comparing SMU 2015 to what we claim to be and what I see around the country night in and night out.
First, it was "they are meaningless non-conference games".
Then Arkansas came to town and it was "well, it's Thanksgiving week".
Then it was a conference game and it was "well, it's still Christmas break".
Then the students were back and it was "well, it's rush week".
So now, the students are back, it's a conference game against our biggest in-state rival, and rush is over.
There weren't even any NFL games or any external distractions to use as an excuse.
If the student section is only going to be full and energetic at the tip for conference games against big opponents when school is in session and rush is not going on, then we need to just accept that and stop claiming we have a great atmosphere and throwing around terms like "Moody Magic".

The reason I started this thread is because right before the starting lineups were announced there were maybe 100 students combined in the three student sections. I realize most of them were still getting their drink on at Barley House but just leave a little sooner and get there 5 minutes before the starting lineups. I would say the same thing for all SMU fans but I've accepted that it's not gonna happen. And yes, by the first TV timeout the place is full.
I know some are going to say I should just be happy people are showing up period, and I am, I just wish we would be there on time for a weekend 5pm game, especially the students.

This
I'd also add to the crowd and the late arrivals. Same thing, lots of excuses, Dallas traffic, early starts, etc. But this is just the HP crowd, they do the same thing for the HP games.
