I've seen a number of UCLA games this year. If there ever was a trap game for SMU it is this one. IN both games vs Arizona this year, UCLA led late into the second half before running out of gas.
I just find it amazing they can keep 5? 6? 7? McDonald's All-Americans all eligible when we have such had such trouble keeping one. Elite programs, huh?
While I know Coach Brown will have our guys ready to play and hopefully they come out fired up with a huge chip on their shoulder after being snubbed last year and only given a 6 seed this year, I do have concerns that UCLA can get hot from the outside. We need to play the game at our pace and pound them inside with our bigs.
We won't underestimate UCLA. The godfather will have our guys believing that Walton and Alcindor will be coming through the door and that Steve Alford will channel John Wooden. So, we'll be ready.
As to rooting for UK to beat Cincy, no way. I'd love to see an all AAC final in the tourney. That would give us respect for years to come. I suspect as well that the third time would be a charm with the Bearcats.
We haven't underestimated anyone all year. This is why we didn't get beat the whole year by a team like Tulane, UCF, USF, ECU or Houston, when pretty much eveyone else in this conference did at some point. We ahve a veteran team with a great coaching staff. I'm more worried about nerves than overconfidence.

Hamitlon was ineligible at UCLA last year, Bolden is ineligible this year. It's not a case of someone picking on SMU, it happens at other schools, as well. It's about the individual, not the school they choose.
