+2, but really SMU is horrible on their marketing. I thought that there were supposed to have an excellent marketing degree or was that advertising? Anyway they don't promote anything and the only contact I get is asking for money.

Really-I get way too much from SMU marketing already including e-mail, snail mail and direct phone calls. Maybe because I'm already clued in on the pitch before it comes but I like to see them dial it back some

Not to mention the pre-recorded phone call from Chad

Yeah, I think marketing to folks like you (I mean this positively) is a bit of a waste of money. Keep you informed, give you some "insider access" but the money is better spent on the "t shirt fan" IMHO. Of course, we have to start winning first before they will jump on board necessarily. (and I mean 'little things' like billboards, a radio/tv spot here and there, etc).

One day we will win the national championship in a revenue sport. And on that day, however far into the future it is, mere hours, if not minutes after we win, there will be complaining about something. Sunrise, sunset.

Very smart move to have the bball team there. That could get about 2,000 alone.
I don't think having the hoops team will influence people to come. People I know that are coming with me didn't know about that and after I told them they saw that as a treat for fans like the bounce houses for their kids.

I've brought this up in the past, I have no idea why the athletic department doesn't partner with Cox and create a Marketing internship for course credit. It could be a win-win.

I got an email about the game today. No mention of the basketball team being there.

Is that really a deal-breaker to some people? If so, what the heck...the reason I'm going to the spring game is to see the football team. It would have been cool to have the hoops team come down and take pictures with fans though.

Huh? They're the biggest thing to happen on the Hilltop this millennium. Plus, you don't have to make a donation to the Mu$tang Club to see them in person.

Go to SMUMustangs.com and click on the Spring Game. It states that SMU will also recognize its AAC Champion basketball team during the game and fans will have a chance to meet the hoops student athletes as well. If the team is not at the Spring Game, I hope they are studying hard or nailing 3 pointers in the gym.

I get that, but it is the football spring game. Football.
