OMG. Dude, seriously? Re-read my post please. Quality > Quantity. We are nowhere near #2 in AAC.

We are certainly trending upward in recruiting.
We need instant improvement now so that we look attractive for the next wave of realignment.

First Herman is not that far ahead of us when you discount the highly rated recruits he got due to family ties. That happens. And secondly, Houston has had a string of seasons as good or better than us including being on the cusp of a BCS bowl had they not spit the bit.

Go ahead a keep worrying but I will continue to say wait and see until I know otherwise.

Herman is a first-time head coach and is absolutely wreckin it on the recruiting trail. Sure they had a better season last year than we did but SMU is a way easier sell.
How is Smu an easier sell to inner city black kids?

Who's got the confirmation bias now? I'm not sure I agree that SMU is a better sell to football players, especially ones not particularly concerned with academics. We were 1-11 last year. We average about 15k actual fans in stands.

To the average student, yes SMU is an easier sell.

Will any JJ recruited players be starting by 2017?

I will stick with what DCTF, DMN, ESPN and Scout/Rivals are saying rather than what some fans think...SMU recruiting has improved dramatically and bigger yet that all these kids are from Texas.

1) Don't worry about rankings until the end of the recruiting season, because you are going to end up taking your foot out of your mouth more often than not.

2) Rivals has not gone through there re-evaluation period yet. When they do, I think a lot of our 5.4 players will get bumped to 3 star. Same with Houston.

It's funny someone on here is already complaining about Coach Morris and his staff's recruits..

Kuwait trolls so hard.

Seriously, if you honestly think that this class resembles anything close to the last three June Jones classes then you are beyond help. The majority of our commitments have P5 offers while the team that Chad Morris and his staff inherited COLLECTIVELY have 16 players with P5 offers. You expect us to dominate recruiting coming off a 1 win season just b/c we are SMU? These kids have options. Most if not all of them think they have NFL aspirations. They will choose a school based on a myriad of factors so assuming just b/c we are SMU that we will instantly jump to the top of their list is stupid. Yes we have a ton to sell, but the fact is right now that the product on the field is selling a vision and a hope. Houston's program is on much more stable ground than ours yet we are more than holding our own against them in recruiting.

As to the STARS thing.....you honestly can't be serious. The evidence is blatantly clear. Let's look at a few of the "Three Stars" on the roster right now and their offer lists compared to the two stars we have committed now:

Derek Longoria - 3 star (5.5 rating) - other offers - ZERO
Prescott Line - 3 star (5.5 rating) - other offers - Central Michigan
Horace Richardson - 3 star (5.5 rating) - other offers - ZERO
Cedric Lancaster - 3 star (5.5 rating) - other offers - Colorado State, Houston
Christian Holloway - 3 star (5.5 rating) - other offers - New Mexico State

So 5 of the 16 three star recruits that were JJ's had a grand total of four other D1A offers and zero P5 offers. Now lets look at the kids we have signed/committed that are two stars under the new Rivals grading system. Tell me if you see a change:

Delontae Scott - 2 star (5.4 rating ) - other offers - Cal, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota

Michael Scott - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Cal, Colorado, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota, UNT, TCU

Blake Carlisle - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - La Tech, Texas State, Toledo

Christian Davis - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Northwestern, Hawaii, Illinois, Navy, UNT, Rice, Tulsa

Kadarius Smith - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Texas Tech, AFA, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, Texas State

Braxton Webb - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Syracuse, Nevada, Northwestern, Texas State

Jacob Todora - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Army, Illinois, Kansas, Nevada, Northwestern, Tulane, Texas State

Joshua Shelmire - 2 star (5.3 rating) - other offers - Northwestern, Memphis

Harrison Barton - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - AFA, Army, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Navy, Texas State, Tulane

Craig JimLawson - 2 star (5.4 rating)- other offers - AFA, Houston, La-Monroe, Texas State, New Mexico

Mikial Onu - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - AFA, Army, Fresno State, ULL, Navy, Nevada, New Mexico, Northwestern, Rice, Texas State

Chris Biggurs - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Iowa State, Harvard, Nevada, UNT, Rice, Texas State

Austin Corbett - 2 star (5.3 rating) - other offers - AFA, Cornell, Harvard, La-Monroe, Navy, Nevada, Texas State, UTSA

Jordan Williams - 2 star (5.4 rating) - other offers - Arkansas, Fresno State, Houston, Iowa State, Louisville, Nevada, UNT, New Mexico, Northwestern, Texas State, Utah, Wake Forest

Bryce Wilds - 2 star (5.3 rating) - other offers - Houston, New Mexico, NMSU, UNT, Northwestern, Rice, SFA, UTSA, Texas Tech, Tulsa

End of story.

thanks for that rant SMT but im not comparing this class with JJ's - i made that clear in one of my earlier posts on this thread. CM in a short period of time has been able to upgrade the talent (granted that wasn't a very hard task considering what we were working with). I'm comparing our class with our conference peers. I'm also not comparing stars although it does provide an indication.

I understand that we need to wait and see how we do our first season. I just want us to get to where we wanna be and the means to that end is by being at least top 3 in recruiting in conference, which we arent doing right now. Don't think im ungrateful of CM's arrival, im ecstatic. i just dont understand why people are raving like hell from a mediocre class by AAC standards.

Love CM and staff and their enthusiasm but where are the blue-chippers? 3 3-stars and 14 2-stars is pretty awful.
