Very impressive, their 2 WRs over the past 2 days have 18 P5 offers between them including TCU, Baylor, Nebraska, ND & Miami.

They got a little lucky with the top DLM being the brother of a UH player but they also did what SMU did by signing a great assistant coaching staff with great Texas ties including the HS Coach Corby Meekins who had great ties in the Houston area including some studs at his own high school. 12 out of 14 UH commits are from Greater Houston. I think if anything its a validation of what SMU is doing with its own coaching staff and what needed to be done around here for 25 years. I want AAC schools to recruit well-I want SMU v UH to be a National spotlite game. The only way to survive in the near term is for the AAC to be considered the No. 1 G5 conference. BTW recruiting mediocrity is slowing eating away at the Big 12 right now-they've got a problem as a conference. Perception of a conference can sink the individual schools and vice-versa
100% agree. All but 2 of Coog High recruits have P5 offers (86%), most have multiple P5 quality offers. Given their location, they should be & are going to be very good, just like us.
Looking forward to some quality SMU / Coog games late in the season. Should be the highest profile G5 matchup every year.
Also tells me that even if CM leaves for greener pastures, we are not doomed, we simply need to hire a staff that passionately recruits Texas, aka the anti-tiki.

I've seen estimates of 500-600 campers at SMU Camp today. Looks like Lancaster brought their entire Junior Class. Momentum is headed in our direction
We even had a tweet from one of the top QBs Jaylon Mascorro in the Country from South Texas stating-"wishing he was at SMU today" . Perceptions are changing

Can't wait to see the progress made over the next couple of years.

I really hope we can win at least 3 games this year (which I feel like is the minimum to keep all this momentum going), but I fear we won't because the existing roster is so weak. The upperclassmen on this team were the ones who came on board when June was boycotting recruiting, and that scares me.

Jeez guys UH will and should out recruit us. It is not apples to apples when you compare us to them....yet. We were 1-11 and should have been 0-12. Statistically we were one of the worst teams EVER! What we have done recruiting to this point is nothing short of a miracle. Do not forget that

I agree. The reality is the UH will out recruit us in Houston. SMU just has to hold serve in the DFW area. They are doing that.

Beatty also brought Perry a well established Texas/DFW HS coach from TCU as his DC. 3 of their 9 commits are 3*s but none of them are from Texas. For two of the 3*s they are the only P5 offer. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Unfortunately for Beatty if/when things go south Kansas is not giving out as big of golden parachutes as they used to.

Running a large camp right and putting SMU on the minds of that many HS athletes is exactly were SMU needs to be. Even for the athletes that never play at the college level it helps build a fan base and recognition of SMU as a program worth your time and not one that is to be avoided. It is also tremendous for the parents and HS coaches to see this event as worth the time and effort.

from 247.com
Brandon Benson | WR | Waco La Vega | 2016
Benson is another target high on the Frogs’ radar and he didn’t disappoint on Friday. Benson recorded one of the fastest forty times with a 4.46. Benson did a good job in individual drills and showed an ability to run good routes. He used his speed several times on deep passes in 1-on-1’s for scores. The 6-foot, 185-pounder is closing in on 20 offers.

Rau ended up with 12 offers including 4 P5s and UH and UCF too
The kids that committed over the weekend collectively added 33 offers and 14 P5 offers
