Launched right when the economy was collapsing. Excellent job...
The Second Century Campaign was publicly launched in 2008 with a goal of $750 million. Rapid progress toward that goal and opportunities for further advancements led SMU leaders in 2013 to increase the goal to $1 billion and extend its timeline to 2015. The last four years of the campaign, 2011–2015, have coincided with SMU’s centennial era, marking the 100th anniversary of the University’s founding in 1911 and opening in 1915.

You mean the IPF...surely there a few teachers/administrators we can cut to make this happen now, right?

Well we look like a bunch of chump amateurs. You state an announcement at 10:00, you get off to a late start and still have not made the announcement by 10:56. That is essentially a coded message to the media to ignore future releases. No wonder we aren't rising in the rankings. Our PR interaction is the worst of any major university I deal with.
Don't get me wrong, it's nice to celebrate 100 years, and if we crossed the $1 billion mark great (though putting out the release prior to the announcement is also amateur), but if you are going to make a major announcement people and the media's time is valuable, and we just disrespected them with a bunch of pompous noise. If they were going to have a televised ceremony, it should have been an invitation to join that, with a separate timing for the "big announcement" and the release should have come post announcement.
If someone working the university media relations department reads this, please PM me. This is shameful.

Do you stop in on occasion and ask if you have any messages?
