Big question: When we sweep you guys again this year, will the committee still consider them to be NCAA tournament quality wins?

It will be telling if the NCAA slow plays us on the appeal as much as the infraction.

Sanctioning LB and banning us from the post-season is a huge overeach on sanctions by the NCAA....I would expect nothing less. There seems to be a lot of media outcry on the severity of the sanctions...maybe this will work in our favor during the appeal process.

Re: SMU statements on NCAA Infractions
Why do I get the impression that Coach Brown is considering litigation separate from the school's appeal process? I am monitoring a legal matter where everything came to a halt after a Federal lawsuit was filed involving a request for an injunction. Everyone backed away from their positions in order to avoid having a ruling by the judge and there still hasnt been a hearing. The request was filed over a year ago. How much of a fight does the NCAA want?

Re: SMU statements on NCAA Infractions
Does it involve a criminal matter or a matter where a witness may have to plead the 5th Amendment?
that usually shuts down civil matters because the 5th Amendment prevents discovery and civil courts with usually stay matters until criminal matters are resolved
Think O.J. Simpson trial or Penn St. case

Re: SMU statements on NCAA Infractions
Does the ncaa have a process to where a dispute goes to outside 3rd party arbitration without
having to go to court
I researched a little and the COI is made up of mostly former university presidents, and below
officials, ADs, coaches etc. which are inherently biased

Re: SMU statements on NCAA Infractions
Turner said the "new rules" we supposed to be geared more towards punishing those responsible and not the kids who had nothing to do with the violations. I get that Coach Brown should take a hit, but really struggle with what this means for our 3 seniors who have no more eligibility. Even if they declared Keith ineligible for this season and barred the others involved from working for a college hoops program...that would make more sense to me.
