Glad I am not the only one who remembers Shanghai Jimmy ("Chile Rice is Very Nice"). As a kid I used to catch the Midway/Walnut Hill bus back from downtown on Pacific Ave. The bus stop was right outside of the chili parlour. I was too scared to ever go in!

There was a Jimmies on Hillcrest across from SMU also. Loved it!

Wow. Haven't thought about Shanghai's in a long time. Loved that place!! And by the way, for only $39.95 I can send you a video of a sermon about the three way God.

and then there were 4...undefeated teams that is. Don't know that we can run the table this year, but sure would be nice to be the last unbeaten late in the season.

Hmmm. Skyline or Gold Star. Can't decide which is worse.

Its a two way tie for the bottom. Chili is just not a midwestern thing. They should just stop. You don't see anyone running down here to recruit a curling champion.

It is really more of a topping, like for hot dogs...I don't know of anyone who would actually get a bowl of the stuff by itself.

Actually the SMU location was across Hillcrest on McFarlin, IIRC, in that funny little walk-up space that had been an eatery for a long time. It didn't last long. Probably underfunded and then "Archie" who operated it was taken ill.
Still, it was the first place I had Chili Rice and started going downtown to that really weird space mentioned by
masterbeater.
I'd bet that there are not many of us who remember the SMU location today.
