Because a hooker wrote a book about Louisville and they know damn well the hammer is about to drop, and we had also had someone screw us over and we admitted it to get it over with. UNC has chosen to fight this, and from I read it's already cost them $10M in lawyer fees and other costs. I'm willing to wait for the NCAA's decision on UNC to see how that plays out, but both Louisville and SMU have played their cards.

Partially it is that UL and SMU are undoubted penalized under new infractions rules; whereas, UNC's infractions took place under old infractions system. Old infractions system carries much more loose rules around penalties, appeals, timeframe for findings, etc. NCAA is going to let all of that play to their advantage for their prized pig.
The other thing at play is that due to the number of years and people involved, it takes much longer to conduct the UNC investigation.
The NCAA tried to close the UNC case already...until the class-action forced them to reopen it. The process has a duration specifically for the reason of preventing the never-ending search for perfect that eliminates every impropriety and violation because the process took too long. Plus...you drag out the UNC investigation this time and it puts more time between the results and their last punishment.

What makes this even better? Offer an online game for the winner against "perrennial NCAA academic irregularities champion UNC."

Because that is an issue too big even for the mighty NCAA.

Yet he seemed to think the penalty was fine for OUR kids? He sucks.
