I still haven't seen anything on Kapita. Is it official that he didn't qualify?

If they were qualified schools would jump all over them within 24 hours. Looks to me that SMU WAS trying to do everything possible to admit both of them.
Right, it's not an SMU thing but an NCAA thing.

Because we are by and large not allowed to have nice things

His eligibility situation probably puts us in the Danger Zone-like "if he becomes eligible after assistant coach calls local high school officials trying to get 4 core courses changed in last month before graduation" Danger Zone. That's why NCAA had a hard-on for SMU. SMU was pressuring high school officials to get 1/4th of Frazier's entire 4 year core requirements in last month of his high school academic career

Relax, I'm not suggesting LB should be fired at all. Just saying at some point someone should step up and take some responsibility. I don't see LB as being that person.

And just remember that the same crew who dealt with the meltdown of our football program are the same folk overseeing the basketball. Hopefully they do a better job but you'd be mad to put too much faith in them.

What exactly are you wanting the program to do? Take responsibility for not admitting questionable academic risks? What problem are you wanting to be solved?

He might be saying that while we were spending recruiting time and resources getting commitments from kids that are risks at getting enrolled that they could have been more productive going after less risky kids enrollment wise with that time.

Let's be honest about the kids that generally comprise our basketball players. Most come
From an environment where they have not been properly trained or prepared for a rigorous collegiate atmosphere. Yes the Grant Hills/semi Ojuyele of the world are well
Prepared but for every 1 of them, there are 25 who are not.

You literally have to teach these students how to think, analyze and write so they can do well enough to avoid suspensions. This is where most schools fail these athletes. When I came to SMU I was ill prepared and got my arse handed to me. I had the ability, I simply didn't have the right tools in my tool box. Once I started understanding that, I began to excel and it wasn't Too long after that that it became clear I was very well qualified.

If we are going to be a perennial top 25 team, these are the students we will deal with year In and year out. It will speak volumes about our University if we designate a program to get them
On track and stop thinking that tutoring is the answer. How are you going to explain debits/credits/accounting principles to a kid whose parents never owned:operated/ran a business ?

They just have to show up to class and act like they want to learn. Ask any student athlete at SMU
