If I had to guess, I'd say his size (6'0 180) is holding back some P5s from offering now; they'll wait until they strike out on their other targetsfootballdad wrote:A Texas QB, with his stats, competition level, and pedigree......you kind of wonder where the P5 offers are? Would assume a few show up after he puts up big numbers again his Senior year.Rebel10 wrote:He has been running HCCM's type of offense for a few years now. Also he is not short at 6'1 and a quarter. Very good delivery. Solid three star recruit with 5 FBS offers. Top 50 ranked QB in country and 8th ranked QB in the state. This is a big time commitment for the SMU program imo.
Great fit for the offense, and the Morris/Travis connection are what make this commit potentially 'big time'.

He is about the same height as Texas QB commit Sam Ehlinger. Just doesn't weight as much.

Nice article in the Austin Sports section today about Charlie and Cade attending SMU.

Re: Charlie Brewer Commits
One big thing that sets the new staff apart from June - they love competition. They don't promise any open spots. Players are told that they will have the opportunity to win jobs immediately, but they are going to have to fight against other recruits.panhandle_pony wrote:Reading between the lines footballdad is saying Morris isn't particularly pleased with Colbert and Hicks?
The more competition at QB the better. There will be 1-2 recruits every single year at QB.
Re: Charlie Brewer Commits
First, there is more than one thing that separates this staff from June and his staff. Also, I think June's staff liked competition as well but they just did not recruit well enough. I don't remember June's staff ever telling a recruit that he would automatically start. And I believe June recruited a QB every year. Also, last year before more decommited and went to Memphis they told him that they were not going to recruit another QB while he was committed to SMU. Now that did not mean they told him he would get automatic playing time because he would have to compete for the job but they did not recruit another QB until he decommitted. This class has one QB now since the other decommitted today but they may recruit another in the class.
