Unlike SMU students, TCU students can drive to a great city within 45 miles.
By the way - now you know why that QB had foil covering his face.

We have better students and academics, but:
Their alums probably don't have the wealth of some of ours, but there is some serious change rattling in those Frog pockets. TCU has a really nice football stadium. They have done a great job of getting the casual/non-affiliated Fort Worth fans behind them. They figured out how to exploit the void created by the downfall of our program. I do business in Fort Worth regularly and the town is behind them in a way Dallas hasn't been behind SMU since the Cowboys started winning in the 60s.
They have cut corners to get to where they are, but the bottom line is that we would love to be where they are in terms of football right now. And they have baseball.

Well,
they say . . .
Many changes over the years and most dramatically is the amount of applications that TCU receives for admission. In 2000, the Admissions office received about 5,000 applications. This year they received 20,000. Every application is personally looked at and assessed. Admissions is looking for 1,900 freshman plus transfer students in the Fall 2016 class.
New facilities are making way for new growth but hospitality remains the same.
TCU has the 2nd most selective university in Texas.
35% are admitted; 2,000 are on waitlist.
Admissions has a Hospitality Staff which schedules about 30 ΓÇÿofficial tours’ and many other individual tours.
The University is seeking to be more diversified in race and increase the male population.
The University also needs more students seeking Education and Religion degrees.
SAT scores are up 30 points in 1 year.
Why all the changes? Athletic success has fueled the global awareness and the media publicity has sparked interest.
Dean Ray Brown insists on accurate numbers. Out of 20,000 applicants, 6,972 have been admitted. External auditors verify accuracy.

they say so . . . it must all be true. Right?

I think i recall something about TCU getting in trouble about publicizing an application number that was was total - including incomplete applications - whereas the standard for comparison is only for completed applications.
And saying you are second most selective is silly when the applications are clearly students that are far below the student quality of many other universities in Texas. They are saying no to a very large number of very poor students - since the ones they say yes to could not get in many other Texas schools.

Well TCU had a 4 yr letterman QB Steve Stamp 1978-81,
graduated HS from Carrollton R.L.Turner (R El Toro) my high school.
TCU didn't win a whole lot in his years, but...
As a Junior he became the first player in SWC history to throw five touchdown passes in a single game (UT-A). Stamp earned further recognition as a Senior when he led the nation in pass-efficiency. Stamp was initially signed by the Denver Broncos and later by the Oklahoma Outlaws

While it is true their student quality is far below Rice, SMU, trinity in SA, UT, and alsobelow A&M and Baylor, there is always Texas Tech for make TCU look like a nice option.

Good school and most people I know who went there are pretty good people. I know its fun to hate on them since they're our rivals, but athletically they're everything we wish we were. Academically sure we're better, but that margin isn't as huge as people make it out to be. At the end of the day though, they're in Ft. Worth.

I am not familiar with the TCU drug culture - so I have no earthly idea why the TCU QB had foil covering his face. Perhaps to hide his identity when he threw the blonde into the van and drugged her?

Professor Chaos Halloween costume?
