They asked for it and the tent /beer garden adjacent to same

The students wanted to be closer to the tent/bar. Don't blame them.

24,379 official attendance. Just 700 less than UH game.

for those who were there, did we ever have close to that many in Ford yesterday? On TV, the east stands looked pretty sparse but it was apparent that several people preferred to sit/lay out on the grassy south end zone area. I don't doubt that there were more than 32k in the vicinity of Ford yesterday when you include those who never left the Boulevard

I cannot estimate crowd sizes but there were much fewer than there were at Houston.

I saw a group of people walk in, get their tickets scanned, and turn around and walk right back out. They were in their late twenties to early thirties. I hope those folks eventually stay and become super fans.

24000 is tickets distributed-I don't think there was even 20,000 there and maybe 18,500 SMU fans

West side filled up with folks like me opting for shade Instead of my east side seats looking directly into sun. Way less than Houston tho, I'd say 16-16.5k actually inside Ford before it emptied at halftime

I feel like I pretty much got this correct

I think end of 3rd quarter was closer to 3500

the thing that makes attendance guessing difficult at SMU games is that grassy knoll is becoming even more popular. Who said our fans are snobby-they'd rather sit in the endzone grass and turn down better sideline seats
the late arriving crowds are simply an embarrassment not generally seen at other universities (except for 11:00 am games and evening workday games). This was arguably a pretty big game for SMU

grassy knoll syndrome pretty much sums up what SMU is all about...attending a game is more of a social event for most of our students (who don't change as alumni) than attending a football game. We have proven through the years that our students/alumni aren't like most colleges/universities that compete in Division I football and are invested in the success of their teams. It could be argued that even the recent transformation at Moody has more to do with it suddenly having become a "place to be seen". At least with access to beer there are more people leaving the Boulevard and actually coming into Ford...even if they aren't really interested in the game. As someone said earlier, we are who we are and we do what we do (not the folks on PonyFans because we are a different breed of masochists).

When you suck arse for 24 years and play nobodies...yeah, the few people who consistently show up have secondary reasons to attend games.

My kid goes to the grassy knoll to play tackle football with his other middle school buds. Smaller kids like to roll down the hill. Parents of smaller kids get stuck over there.
Other than the game outcome, except Houston game, it's a good gameday experience.
Why doesn't SMU do brisket/BBQ sandwiches or plates? I believe TCU does. That would be a good change from dogs and pizza.
