Obviously, Baylor couldn't go that far, so Chad will stay at SMU and get a nice healthy raise and maybe even a shovel in the ground on an IPF out of the whole ordeal.
We will win 8 or 9 next year and Chad will get a much better gig than Baylor out of it, and both SMU and Chad will be better for it.
Can't wait for 2017.
Go Ponies!
Ahh the pitfalls of leaking negotiations to the media with the intention of playing both sides up so you can create a frenzy and get more $$$...
and when it backfires, you are left to clean up the mess... although he will still get his raise if he stays, he will now have recruits reminded of this episode, and will damage his
future efforts.
GREED-- Don't ya love it!!

Regardless of who started the conversation, something was offered from Baylor several months ago. Chad was offered something a few weeks ago to entice him to stay. Tomorrow we find out which way he is going. That result wasn't dictated by today's game or any other coaches coming into the picture.
IMHO, Chad probably wanted his whole staff to go to Baylor, Baylor wasn't willing to make that commitment, and from that point Morris turned around and used the offer to leverage a bigger commitment out of SMU. But that is purely my guess.

and Just as I am getting used to the idea of CM leaving...
Oh well, if he stays, I hope he can get SMU one more solid year of recruits and a lot of wins.

I don't know the whole story to this fiasco. But fiasco is written all over it. Smells a little like June. When a coach tells u he wants to go u should believe him the first time.

I've lived in NC a long time and don't know where Saphire is - Boone? Asheville?

Hour west of Asheville. Highlands , Cashiers, Sapphire plateau. 4000 feet elevation never gets above 85 in summer. It's gorgeous.

Gotcha! We're headed to Bryson City next week for the Polar Express. I live in Wilmington but work from Greenville SC, about 45 min from Asheville. My wife and I are headed to Highlands later in December. Small world!

Those of us living in the Carolinas appreciate the beauty of this part of the country. My son's in-laws are in Waynesville and have a place at Fontana lake

Both Bryson and Waynesville are close by. Definitely a small world. In Highlands, look up Old Edwards, I work for the Golf Club which will be closed but the property is phenomenal and the Inn/Spa are incredible. Again, Go Ponies!!
