June Jones on Norm-a-thon on 1310

Post by CalallenStang »

Did PlanoStang post recruiting rankings? They look like end of season Sagarin to me, given the #144 in 2004 (after our winless 2003 season)

If those are recruiting rankings and we finished 144 in 2004 (behind ~25 I-AA programs), we should have fired Bennett right then and there.

I don't remember it being that bad, but I could be wrong

Completely misleading BS you crazy Rass Roll.

Blackoutpony had a great post last year, 72 of tiki's recruits had ZERO P5 offers.

I'll defer to our resident expert, Stallion.

Is this statement even remotely correct?

I recall PB's 2nd recruiting class one of our best in 30 years while tiki's, especially at the end, quite terrible.

I do miss great LB play. JGD and Tank Reed were dominant forces. Could have started at many P5 schools.

He's posted those numbers many times over the years and has been told EVERY time that the 144 was a computer glitch. If you go to the webpage they double listed many teams. Of course, there aren't any where close to that many teams in FBS. From memory, I think it should have said something like 95

Got it. That 144 definitely looked fishy to me

Go look at every ranking measure from Rivals, Scout and ESPN, and you will see the bottom fell out of PB recruiting his last three years, and his rankings those three years were well below where June ever was.

That's interesting, since June did better with phil's recruits then he did his own. Judging from what was on the field I would have thought Phil recruited better.

yeah but again Phil didn't even bother to recruit kids that were likely nonqualifiers-because they had no chance for admission. I wish these recruiting services would go to Enrolled Rankings rather than Signing Date Rankings-it can be so misleading

I believe all of those offensive linemen and Sanders were two star recruits.

there were only about 130 3+ stars back then while there were about 280 3+ stars in June's big classes-its worthless to compare stars through different recruiting years when they mean something very different

June never had a class approaching this:

2016 Class
Total FBS Offers: 194
Total P5 Offers: 65
% with P5 Offers: (18/24) 75%

88 Players CM inherited from tiki:

Total P5 Offers: 63 - Matt Davis and Daniel Gresham with 31 offers make up 50% of this number (we got both these players under unique circumstances).
% with P5 Offers: (12/88) 18%
% with NO other FBS Offers (48/88) 55%

For anyone to imply that tiki wasn't anything other than a complete POS at recruiting during his last several years at SMU has no credibility on this board.
