My opinion, it's not about the numbers of attendance, but the numbers of wins. That makes the coaches look good and helps recruiting. Bowl games every year and I will be happy, conference titles and I will be ecstatic. To heck with Dallas, just make the alums happy first. Casual fans don't care who we beat, but want to hear some buzz. Put us in a P5 and then Dallas will finally come along. Till then, just win.

Better question-why should any SMU fan buy season tickets at all when there isn't a single classic matchup that SMU fans give a damn about. Same seat can be "acquired' by simply moving into an unused seat. For 2/3rds of the fan base that skip the majority of games any way there's no reason to buy season tickets to reserve seats for the "Big Games". I think SMU is going to have trouble with season ticket sales without a couple of games that the average fan actually cares about. Let's face it-this is the least attractive schedule SMU has ever pieced together

Without a doubt. For home games, we used to play the likes of Air Force, Missouri, West Virginia, Purdue, New Mexico, Virginia Tech, Arlington State (oops!)....Notre Dame, Ohio State, good'uns.

If you don't like it stay home and watch someone else. Plain and simple don't waste your time on SMU football. Easy choice.

It hasn't made sense to buy season tickets since the 80s. You'd spend less on buying the big game from StubHub and taking your friends' freebies for the other games in basically every season since the death penalty

If you're buying season tickets for the cost value, you're doing it wrong.

You just described 95% of the SMU alums living in DFW. And this type of thinking/attitude is why SMU football will never achieve P5 status.

and if you'd rather go to Ford to see SMU get put in a garbage can by name-brand P5 teams instead of watching the team stack up wins against peers and grow incrementally, you're doing it wrong too.

BINGO!!! +1000
Disappointing to see so much "hopeless.....we're doomed" mentality. True fans show up regardless of who they're playing. If you are a true fan than buy a ticket, show up and cheer for your team. The coaches and players are working their tails off and begging for this support. They're showing substantial improvements and building a nice roster of depth and talent. Talent that wouldn't be here if not for the efforts of this coaching staff. If that actually matters to the "fans" than go to the games and show them you care.
Last year we hosted Liberty, TCU, Houston, Memphis, USF, and Navy. That is a BRUTAL home schedule for a team in a 2nd year build from basically scraps. Not to mention having to start an inexperienced QB, backups galore, and no real depth across the board.
So, now we have a "win" favorable home schedule...and people still want to complain? We have the talent/depth now to also win some big away games.
Let's enjoy watching the W's stack up and the team playing in a bowl game. Has been a LOOONG time coming. For the hopeless "fans" out there, sorry you're going to miss it.

Yeah because so many SMU fans have a say in creating the schedule?????
Pretty sure the scheduling whining should be directed at the guy behind it (his first name is Chad), not the 'frightened' fans.

Gotta go to any bowl before you can go to a big bowl. What do the 2018 and 2019 OOC home schedules look like?

Good to see the State of Texas is allowing footballdad to access the internet again.

Fan shaming is ponyfans #1 export. I think that, by creating some level of "true fan" definition, it makes the 50 people who post here justify all the bad feelings that come with being a "true fan."
But I guess I can't comment because I live out of state and don't want to spend money on season tickets.
