You have to admit he is innovative though. I have never seen 13 players on the field on defense before.

Of course Tulsa, completed a long pass on that play so maybe the new strategy didn't work too well.

I think many of us recognize that Mitchell is our best LB (by a mile) but feel he is playing out of position at the Star (especially on third down).

Exactly... not saying that Kyran is bad, but he should be playing Will, not Star. As Star, he is asked to cover the slot and he can't do it. So, now our safeties not only have to cover our run defense, but also have to cover for him in the slot, which exposes our corners deep. Star and MLB are the big holes in the defense; if we were able to fill those spots and move Kyran to Will, this becomes a good defense really quickly.

My piont is...
Wrong players on the field after time out.
8 to 12vysrd cushions on outside or slot ... that is how you give long plays.
Not turning to see the ball at corners.
De,s going up field and not containing qb.

A coach uses team talent not force a scheme on playrs tgat can not perform.(recruiting)

We would be top 25...30 if we beat houston... and we could have.

You seriously need to get your head out of the clouds (or where ever it is) and stop with the top 25 bs. This year with a cream puff non con schedule has gone according to plan with a little luck in the last two games, and is just another building year. Its the year of the spare bowl which we hopefully win and a better recruiting class.

ArkansasΓÇÖ defense makes our look great. They have given up well over 300 yards in the first quarter against a team that lost their starting QB last week.

Again SMU is much closer to Top 60 than Top 25. Our best win is probably Arkansas St who is starting to roll

Fact is the coaches have always loved Rhone and made him a team leader this year. maybe layoff the conclusions a bit about spears and mcnew and others. Personally would like to see more stunting and lb blitzing because we are giving up big plays anyway even when we don't blitz. Big challenge the next 3 weeks.

I am one those calling for Malone's head. But I must tip my hat to him and the defense, they came out in the second half and pretty much shut Tulsa down. I think Tulsa only had around 130 yards offense in the second half.

Can't say I'm thrilled about the defense, either. But for the second game in a row, the defense held the opposing offense to single digits in points in the second half. That suggests the coaching staff adjusts well. I echo others who want more recruiting emphasis on the defensive side.

Yes we COULD have but no we didnΓÇÖt.
Top 25-30 if we had?

Fedex me up an ounce or two of that stuff ok?

We are winning some games but we are not a good football team. I post this as I watch Penn State-Ohio State. We have a ways to go.

We are not going to get there without changes. Nodody wants to talk about lack of preparation, players out of position and dont even have team groups correct. Watch him on sidelines... he is panicked.

There are many layers just in the top 20.

We could be a good team without a 106th ranked d.

I would be panicked too if I had what he has at his disposal.
