Maybe because he was trying to recruit players from Texas (with what, 10 FBS teams in AAC, CUSA, SEC, and Big 12?) to go to Ruston, Louisiana. And he still smacked around Ole Miss, Houston, and went toe to toe with Manziel-led Aggies and won his conference, something June or Chad never did.

I dunno man, #81 recruiting at La Tech during their WAC days and #30s for Cal? That's not bad.


Anyway, I'm glad Dykes came in and immediately addressed defense as a priority for him. Let's see if he can get that done. I hope SMU is willing to pay top dollar for these positions, we'll need it.

You say you want data but you only want data to support your whining! Taking away his last season at Cal, he has won more games each subsequent season at both coaching stops.

Because we support the school.

He seemed a lot more sincere and down-to-earth than our previous coach. I also liked his comments about his tcwho experience. A chance to decompress and reflect on things.
Glad he addressed a lot of the issues/concerns that have been expressed. It was almost like he was reading the comments on pf.

Was this suppose to change my perspective? 9-3 in the WAC and 8-5 in mediocre PAC12? Besides, I don't doubt he can JJ this by coaching with other's players. My main and primary concern is his recruiting ability. If we saved a bunch of money, which we should, on the HC salary and go out and get a fantastic recruiter then i'll change my dissenting opinion.

lol I had the same thought. I thought he was able to address all of the big topics either in his remarks or his answers to questions.

Dude wake up. We are SMU, not A&M. You want a coach that can go 9-3 or 10-2 in a P5 conference? Yeah, they're not coming here because we are SMU.

I wish I had been there too. I'd have snagged one of those helmets.

Look if you guys think we got a great coach, great. I'll focus on the one good news for football which is that we actually got a date for the IPF. Hopefully that helps with recruiting and future coach selections. Hopefully they can find the 20% funds needed to finish.
