They get that matchup they'll be playing in front of 30k in a city nobody cares about them in a bowl that may be the singularly WORST name in all of sports.
I want a P5 team. I could care less about the attendance.
Well, the good news is that most of the scenarios have us matched up against one.
That being said, I wouldn't mind us playing Texas in the Liberty Bowl, and I say that us ending up there, especially if we are 11-1 and not in the championship game, are likely - the SEC is not going to come anywhere close ot filling their bowl allotment and may have 2 teams in the CFP.

Belk has a $1.7M payout and good support locally. The only time it didn't draw 41K+ was when A&M played Wake Forest (about the size of Tulsa). If we face VT, they alone can bring 30K+ fans.

Exactly. If SMU finishes 11-1 (or even 10-2), facing a P5 team with 4-5 losses won't be THAT exciting.

If we donΓÇÖt get a Cotton Bowl bid then a beatable 4-5 loss Texas team is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered to keep growing the interest in our program.

I think we could beat a VA.Tech but not so sure about beating Okie or Okie lite and IMO the whorens would be a challenge but would love to kick the bevo-butt.

I don't think SMU has to worry about facing Oklahoma this bowl season!
Hubbard is having a great season for OSU so slowing him down would be a challenges for the DL & LB. SMU should score on their defense so I could see it become an entertaining shootout.
