He's not dumb....he's just venting.

ECM really though is a short bus kid. Almost every comment he says makes drunk hobos look like academics.

Obviously its venting but theres that small part that is kinda serious. If you get 10 wins, been ranked, tons of hype, high scoring offense, you think you at least get a mid tier bowl. If we get crappy Frisco then essentially they're telling us it's either NY6 or Frisco. At least if Frisco bowl stays solvent.

Payout: $1.2 million and they had a rep at our game yesterday

I heard the Independence Bowl had a rep at Ford Stadium yesterday, but so did a couple of other bowls.
I hadn't heard Tempe mentioned as a possibility. I'd be alright with that!

Independence likely draws Florida State based on a projection I saw. That would be one that SMU fans probably would enjoy.

I'm no expert, but I honestly think our bowl placement has more to do with Sagarin type calculations and obviously our conference tie-ins than any anti-SMU conspiracy. I wish we could play Texas because the Shane story would be interesting. Although I am not confident at all we would beat the Longhorns, it would be like old times, and a real challenge for us. Plus Texas loves to get slotted against teams they think they can beat, and looking at Sagarin it would seem they would be pretty confident they could beat us.

My choices are (1) Memphis, (2) Tempe, and (3) Anywhere in Florida.

Right but Frisco is the lowest tier of the AAC right? I figure this is where you send your 6-6 (Tulane) or 7-5 teams to.

The American Athletic Conference doesnΓÇÖt have a true pecking order. The bowl matchups are based on best possible games and geography.

ΓÇô Jared Birmingham Bowl vs. SEC
ΓÇô Bad Boy Mowers Gasparillia Bowl vs. Conference USA
ΓÇô Hawaii Bowl vs. BYU or Mountain West
ΓÇô Military Bowl presented by Northrup Grumman vs. ACC
ΓÇô Cheribundi Tart Cherry Bowl vs. Conference USA
ΓÇô AutoNation Cure Bowl vs. Sun Belt
ΓÇô Frisco Bowl vs. At-Large

The American Athletic has secondary partnerships with the AutoZone Liberty and Walk-OnΓÇÖs Independence, to fill if the main affiliations canΓÇÖt fill their slots.
