It was a forecasted rough weather day with an opponent no one in the general populace cares about. WeΓÇÖve shown we can fill Ford with natural and traditional rivals. And that we canΓÇÖt without them. Plus, we donΓÇÖt make it easy for the general public to get to the game as there is in effect zero parking close to the stadium. Think of every other of our rivals and where their parking is.
Unfortunately, I donΓÇÖt see a solution to that problem. Heck, in basketball we just made it harder by killing most of the parking just south of sorority row.

Nothing to be done but rely on DART and make ride-sharing easier.

And to do a good job of advertising DART options not to mention making it part of the ticket cost

Instead of fountains more subterranean parking garages?

The newly implemented parking restrictions south of the stadium in HP aren't helping (can only park on the right side of the street now).

Can anyone that has ever attended a football game anywhere else (not as a student, season ticket holder, or participant) tell me one place that has close parking? I literally walked a mile to get to Amon Carter from where I parked a couple weeks ago. I have attended games at UT, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, plus games at Ole Miss, Alabama, NC State, Michigan, Utah, OU, Arkansas, UCF, and KU and can't think of one where I didn't have to trek a long way from my car to the stadium, or take a shuttle.

IΓÇÖd be glad to be wrong on this - sounds like I am. Baylor has close parking and IΓÇÖve never had to walk far at TCU. But itΓÇÖs been a while since IΓÇÖve been down to Austin, etc.

IΓÇÖve had to walk (and sometimes ride a bus) at Bama, Arkansas, LSU, Kyle Field, and even Texas Tech - pretty much the norm.

DART is two blocks away from Ford. I'm almost embarrassed that I pay for Binkley with light rail that close.

For an 80,000 seat stadium, I never had to walk very far to go to a Clemson game

Exactly, takes away half of the parking.

Probably for the best, I remember a strong wind knocked the trains out for an hour. I wish we had a better rail solution. I was I'm grapevine and their rail is far superior to DART. They also need to either create and express train or cut half the stops out especially on the red line.

Parking's tougher than it was a decade ago but far easier than other locations.
Park on Daniel on the north side of the street for free on weekends. Park at the middle school a block west of Hillcrest for free. I parked at Paschal HS for $20 for the TCU game. If I had gotten there early enough, and known about it, I could've parked on the street next to Paschal for free.

SMU is dumb for putting parking on campus. Why use precious land on campus for garages, instead of academic buildings or student housing? If they need parking so bad, then build a a large parking garage across 75 and have a shuttle bring students on campus. They should also require that undergrads that are housed on campus, not bring their cars.
